  7. Abstract:
  8. RF Receivers are one of the main components of telecommunication systems, which can be composed of many parts and circuits according to their working frequency and application. In this thesis, the design and simulation of an X-band Receiver in 0.15um GaAs technology has been discussed. The receiver chain, in the order of receiving the signal, includes the main blocks of limiter, attenuator, low noise amplifier and mixer. It also includes a number of filters. The attenuator has two digital bits and the receiving chain filters are implemented in such a way to provide more than 20dB attenuation in the frequency band of the image signal. In this research, the limiter is implemented with a transistor structure and provides 38dBm power handling for the receiver chain. The low noise amplifier has two stages of transistors and the mixer is designed with a passive diode structure. The performed simulations show that the final chain of the receiver has a gain of 7.8dB, a noise figure equal to 4.56dB, an RMS error equal to 0.94dB and Output 1dB Compression Point equal to 5dBm. Also, the output third order intercept point, the power consumption of the receiver and its final dimensions were obtained as 11.5dBm, 181.55mW and 1.8×3.9 mm2 respectively
