Abstract
This paper presents a robust and low-power single-ended robust 11T near-threshold SRAM cell in 10-nm FinFET technology. The proposed cell eliminates write disturbance and enhances write performance by disconnecting the path between cross-coupled inverters during the write operation. FinFETs suffer from width quantization, and SRAM performance is highly dependent to transistors sizing. The proposed structure with minimum sized tri-gate FinFETs operates without failure under major process variations. In addition, read disturbance is reduced by isolating the storage nodes during the read operations. To reduce power consumption this cell uses only one bit-line for both read and write operations....

Abstract
This paper presents a single-ended low-power 7T SRAM cell in FinFET technology. This cell enhances read performance by isolating the storage node from the read path. Moreover, disconnecting the feedback path of the cross-coupled inverters during the write operation enhances WSNM by nearly 7.7X in comparison with the conventional 8T SRAM cell. By using only one bit-line, this cell reduces power consumption and PDP compared to the conventional 8T SRAM cell by 82% and 35%, respectively. © 2018 Elsevier GmbH
Design of a Low Power and Robust SRAM Cell Based on FinFET

Abstract
By scaling the technology node, leakage power and process variations emerge as the two important factors to design a chip. Static power becomes more important when the number of portable devices which spend most of the time in the idle mode is increasing.Process variations lessen performance, reliability and lead to more leakage power. To mitigate these limitations multiple devices have been proposed to displace Bulk MOSFET.Among these devices we can name FinFET and CNTFET transistors. FinFET transistors due to their superior gate control in compare to Bulk MOSFETs transistor have shown lesser short channel effects, more scalability, more I_on to I_off ratio and lesser process variations....

Coordinating a seller-buyer supply chain with a proper allocation of chain’s surplus profit using a general side-payment contract [electronic resource]
, Article International Journal of Industrial and Systems Engineering ; Volume 5, No. 2, Summer 2011, Page 63-79 ; Eshghi, Kourosh ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
In this paper, seller-buyer supply chain coordination with general side-payment contracts is introduced to gain the maximum possible chain profit. In our model, the logistics costs for both buyer and seller are considered and the final demand is also supposed to be a decreasing function of the retail price. Since parties aim to maximize their individual profits, the contractual parameters are set in a way that these decisions become aligned with system optimal decisions. Therefore, a side payment contract is suggested in our model to assign the chain surplus profit to the chain members such that they have no intention to leave the coalition. Then, we change the contract into a quantity...

Abstract
Contaminant materials in lubricants are signs for prediction and measurement of wear in engines. Therefore oil monitoring is considered as one of the most effective techniques for maintaining the heavy equipments. However based on oil analysis data, the identification of engine problem is very hard due to different contribution factors. Hence, this paper is purposed to analyze the wear behavior of some sets of selected heavy equipment engine based on documented oil analysis data during two years in different conditions to track engine failures using trend analysis. Furthermore the selected equipments are divided into two major groups (plantation and forestry, and general construction) based...
Photonic Crystal Cavity Quantum Optic in the Very Strong Coupling Regime
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khorasani, Sina (Supervisor)
Abstract
First, we peruse the intraction between a quantized light and a two level atom which has been described by Janes-Cummings-Paul Hamiltonian. By solving Heisenberg equations in Fourier space and describing electric field by a generalized-transverse Green function, we obtain spectral density for a quantum dot which is in the strong coupling to a slab photonic crystal cavity. Afterward, by solving Shrouding equations precisely we demonstrate when quantum dot is in a very strong coupling to cavity, rotate wave approximation is not reliable anymore. It means that if coupling constant gets comparable to cavity mode frequency then the prevalent approach to solve this Hamiltonian will not be correct....

Abstract
In this project, we were intended to study the ultra-strong coupling in optical waveguides. Hence, we analyze the interaction of an electromagnetic wave with a quantum well embedded in a dielectric slab waveguide. First, we designed a QW with and alloys, which the energy of its electron-heavy holes transition is . By exploiting the envelope function approximation, we derived the wavefunction of electrons and holes, their eigen-energies, and the dipole moment of electon-holes. For finding the wavefunction of holes and their eigen-energies, we used the Luttinger Hamiltonian. Next, we calculated the electrical susceptibility of a three level quantum system (as a model for QW), by using...

Abstract
Cavity Quantum Electro-Dynamics (CQED) in Weak, Strong and Ultra-Strong coupling Regimes are studied. A MATLAB m-file is written which is able to solve any arbitrary CQED configuration. This program demands input data such as number of Quantum Dots, number of energy levels of each Quantum Dot, energies of each energy level of Quantum Dots, Number of cavity modes, eign-frequency of each cavity mode, coupling constant, dipole strength of each allowed transition of Quantum Dots and initial state of system from user and begins to solve the Schrodinger equation for annihilation and atomic ladder operators. In addition, coefficients of each possible ket will be calculated. Since, any approximation...
Nonlinear Torsional Vibrations of Thin Walled Beam with Semi-Analytic Methods
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Haddadpour, Hassan (Supervisor)
Abstract
Thin Walled Beams are widely used in engineering applications with the minimum weight design criteria, ranging from civil to aerospace and many other industrial fields. The weight reduction of the beam leads to importance of the dynamic behavior of the structure. Frequently used thin walled beams have low torsional stiffness and their torsional deformations may be of such magnitudes that it is not adequate to treat the angles of cross section rotation as small. When the vibration amplitudes are moderate or large, the geometric nonlinearity must be included and some new phenomena which do not exist in linear torsional dynamic come into play. Unfortunately, the equations of motion of nonlinear...

Abstract
In the recent years, photonic crystal (PhC) devices vastly have been paid attention due to their ignorable loss, very low group velocity, flexibility in shape and dimension. In this thesis a PhC coupled cavity ring known as superresonator is introduced and its properties and applications is studied. Also modes of the structure are extracted through both coupled-resonator model and FDTD method, and two of its application is described and studied. Add-drop filter is one of the essential devices in WDM systems. First, an application of superresonator in designing add-drop filters is explained and a novel filter based on the superresonator is introduced and analyzed by FDTD and coupled mode...

Abstract
Oil analysis technique is used as predictive and proactive tools to identify the wear modes of rubbing parts and to diagnose the faults in machinery. In this paper, the wear behavior of diesel engines, especially on oil analysis, is studied based on condition data. In terms of analyzing historical data, descriptive statistics is used as data mining tools to find the relationship between condition factors of the machine and its final status. The equipments have been monitored in two different environments which are: plantation-forestry, and general construction. Based on this relationship a specific baseline is achieved for selected sets of equipment in their specific conditions. A striking...

Abstract
The proposed current harmonic model for high-power synchronous machines is dependent on the inductances of quadrature and direct axes. Variation of these parameters, as a consequence of modification in operating point, aging and temperature rise, in-progress pulse patterns, are no longer optimal solutions for minimization of harmonic losses. On the other hand, offline calculation of optimal pulse patterns for slight changes in these parameters, and storing them in read-only memories to serve as look-up tables, give rise to immoderate computational burden and unmanageable look-up tables. Notwithstanding performing online identification process and offline calculation of optimal pulse...

Abstract
This paper presents a powerful application of genetic algorithm (GA) for the minimization of the total harmonic current distortion (THCD) in high-power induction motors fed by voltage source inverters, based on an approximate harmonic model. That is, having defined a desired fundamental output voltage, optimal pulse patterns (switching angles) are determined to produce the fundamental output voltage while minimizing the THCD. The complete results for the two cases of three and five switching instants in the first quarter period of pulse width modulation (PWM) waveform are presented. Presence of harmonics in the stator excitation leads to a pulsing-torque component. Considering the fact that...
Axial-torsional vibrations of rotating pretwisted thin walled composite beams
, Article International Journal of Mechanical Sciences ; Vol. 80 , 2014 , pp. 93-101 ; ISSN: 00207403 ; Haddadpour, H ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Axial-torsional vibrations of rotating pretwisted thin-walled composite box beams exhibiting primary and secondary warping are investigated. Considering the nonlinear strain-displacement relations, the coupled nonlinear axial-torsional equations of motion are derived using Hamilton's principle. Ignoring the axial inertia term leads to differential equation of motion in terms of elastic torsion in the case of axially immovable beams. Centrifugal load in the presence of material anisotropy and pretwist angle leads to an induced static torque. The nonlinear equation should be linearized about the corresponding equilibrium state to obtain the linear differential equation of motion. Extended...

Abstract
In this paper the aim is to minimize the total harmonic distortion (THD) in PWM inverters while suppressing chosen harmonics concurrently and maintaining the fundamental component of the output voltage at a required level. This is reformed as an optimization task and the optimal pulse patterns are accomplished using genetic algorithm (GA) optimization technique to minimize a predefined fitness function. The complete solutions that suppress the 5 th and 7 th harmonics and optimize the THD are given. A practical limitation on the determination of sequential switching angles has been considered as a set of constraints in derivation of the results. © 2006 IEEE

Abstract
This study presents a powerful application of genetic algorithm (GA) for the minimization of the total harmonic current distortion (THCD) in high-power induction motors fed by voltage source inverters, based on an approximate harmonic model. That is, optimal pulse patterns (switching angles) are determined to have the THCD minimized and the fundamental output voltage regulated concurrently. As the minimization of THCD corresponds to the minimization of harmonic copper losses of the motor windings, GA optimization technique has been utilized, in comparison with conventional optimization methods due to its capabilities of searching the entire solution space with more probability of finding the...
