Abstract
A different approach in the calculation of two-dimensional local density of states has been presented for a two-dimensional finite rectangular-lattice photonic crystal with a separable profile of permittivity. Approximate staircase structures are already shown to be useful for their ability to reproduce actual properties of practical square lattice photonic crystals. Using the effective resonance approach in a Fabry-Perot resonator and transfer matrix method an analytical expression for calculating a two-dimensional local density of states can be derived for both polarisations in the structure. Abstract
In this paper we analyze a disk-like quantum dot embedded in an engineered two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal cavity as an artificial atom. In this quantum dot electron and hole form an exciton where photon and electron-hole bound state can interact. Within the engineered electromagnetic vacuum of the PBG material, the exciton can emit and reabsorb a photon. If the exciton energy lies near the photonic band gap edge the exciton level splits into two levels. This is similar to the interaction of field and an atom in a high Q cavity. Abstract
Analytical analysis of straight single-line defect optical waveguides in two dimensional photonic crystals based on expanding electromagnetic fields in terms of Hermite polynomials is reported. This novel electromagnetic field expression is substituted in Helmholtz equation, a new set of linear ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients are obtained, and by employing differential transfer matrix method; defect modes, i.e. the guided modes propagating in the line defect waveguide, are analytically derived. The validity of the results obtained by applying the proposed approach are confirmed by comparing them to those derived by using finite difference time domain method

Abstract
When the periodic permittivity of two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal (PC) can be separated in x- and y- coordinates, one can consider the structure as two separate 1D photonic crystals, one of them being periodic in x coordinate and the other in y coordinate. If it is possible to find a proper separable permittivity function, we can approximate a 2D PC with two distinct 1D structures. One of the advantages is rapid calculation the density of state of a 2D PC. Abstract
A novel approach for photonic crystals devices analysis, based on perturbation theory is reported. In this method the photonic crystal device is considered as the superposition of a parent lattice and a perturbing one. Then the solution is investigated in terms of the eigensolutions of the parent lattice. This way, one can easily obtain analytic expressions within the first order perturbation, describing the effects of different parameters on the eigensolutions of the structure. Abstract
This paper aims to analyze Iran's long-term power sector development from economic, environmental, social, and sustainable perspectives. For this purpose, a linear programming model is developed, which includes three objective functions: minimization of costs, minimization of CO2 emissions, and maximization of created jobs. To provide a sustainable plan, analytical hierarchy process is employed to allocate expert-based weights to the objective functions. Abstract
A new mononuclear molybdenum(VI)-oxodiperoxo complex [MoO(O 2)2(phox)] with a simple bidentate ligand, 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)-5,6-dihydro-1,3-oxazine (Hphox), has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray structure analysis, elemental analysis, infrared, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. A triclinic space group P-1 was determined by X-ray crystallography from single-crystal data of this complex. The resulting complex functioned as a facile sulfide oxidation catalyst with urea hydrogen peroxide as terminal oxidant at room temperature. Considerable efforts have been directed in recent years towards the transition metal complex catalyzed oxidation of organic compounds. Among these, oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides and alkenes to epoxides have specially been attended a lot, since sulfoxides and epoxides are important intermediates in organic synthesis. In this study [MoO(O2)(oxazine)2] complex has been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR and 1HNMR. Abstract
In this paper, we evaluate the capacity of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems using directional antennas in non-isotropic scattering environments. Our analytical analysis approach results in closed-form approximate formulas in low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) regime (in contrast to previous research works which have investigated the same problem by employing experimental or simulation frameworks). We propose an upper bound for the introduced approximate error. In this paper, trace locality of reference (LoR) is identified as a mechanism to predict the behavior of a variety of systems. If two objects were accessed nearby in the past and the first one is accessed again, trace LoR predicts that the second one will be accessed in near future. To capture trace LoR, trace graph is introduced. Although trace LoR can be observed in a variety of systems, but the focus of this paper is to characterize it for data accesses in memory management systems. It is now known that at least 10% of samples with pancreatic cancers (PC) contain a causative mutation in the known susceptibility genes, suggesting the importance of identifying cancer-associated genes that carry the causative mutations in high-risk individuals for early detection of PC. The axial turbine is one of the most challenging components of gas turbines for industrial and aerospace applications. With the ever-increasing requirement for high-aerodynamic performance blades, three-dimensional aerodynamic shape optimization is of great importance. A high quality joint of zinc based pressure die cast alloys can be hardly achieved by conventional fusion welding. In this study, a novel technique to achieve the globular weld structure using stirring the localized semisolid zone during butt joining of Zamak-3 pressure die cast alloy is proposed and effect of welding parameters on mechanical and microstructural properties are investigated. The human protein disulfide isomerase (hPDI), is an essential four-domain multifunctional enzyme. As a result of disulfide shuffling in its terminal domains, hPDI exists in two oxidation states with different conformational preferences which are important for substrate binding and functional activities. Background MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are frequently deregulated in various types of cancer. While antisense oligonucleotides are used to block oncomiRs, delivery of tumour-suppressive miRNAs holds great potential as a potent anti-cancer strategy.
