- Abstract:
- This study examines the impact of firm size on the quality of innovation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The main objective is to analyze the relationship between firm size and the quality of innovation in AI applications, and to propose appropriate strategies for companies operating in this domain. The data used in this research were collected from the The Lens and Compustat databases over the period 2000–2023 and were analyzed using panel regression methods. The findings indicate that smaller firms exhibit higher patent quality compared to larger firms. In other words, as firm size increases, the capability to produce high-quality patents declines. Furthermore, startup companies can create competitive advantages and strengthen their market position through targeted investments in research and development (R&D). These results highlight the importance of firm size and R&D strategies in shaping innovation quality. The study suggests that firms operating in the AI sector should align their innovation and R&D investment strategies with their size and available resources in order to enhance productivity and sustain competitive advantage
