  7. Abstract:
  8. In this thesis, I explore the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence and examine the topic from multiple perspectives. In the first chapter, I discuss key definitions and concepts related to artificial intelligence, generative AI, moral agency, and responsibility. The second chapter focuses on comparing two major approaches to AI ethics: the standard approach and the relational approach. I analyze the main objections to each and argue that while some of these objections may not apply to AI ethics, others present some challenges. In the end, I will introduce a new combined approach to the issue of AI ethics and argue that this approach provides a better framework for evaluating the ethics of AI. In the third chapter, I review different views on ethics of AI and investigate whether, based on these perspectives, generative AI can be considered a moral agent. In the fourth chapter, using a functionalist approach to AI and based on the combined framework, I will argue that in the future large language models could potentially possess a “Self”. From this perspective, I will argue that generative AI has moral agency. Finally, in the last chapter, I examine different attitudes toward the future of AI and analyze various arguments for and against these perspectives. I will introduce four perspectives, including optimists, pessimists, skeptics, and pragmatists, and examine the various arguments on these issues. I will also offer suggestions for mitigating the harms of generative AI
