  4. Abstract:
  5. In light of global efforts to enhance building energy efficiency and foster sustainable practices, the establishment of standardized methodologies for evaluating energy performance has gained international attention. The study employs the ISO 13790 method to scrutinize monthly heating energy calculations, with rigorous validation through dynamic simulation using EnergyPlus software. Focusing on the Energy faculty at Sharif University of Technology as a case study, the study unveils significant disparities between the heating energy estimations derived from the ISO 13790 standard and dynamic simulation. Intriguingly, this investigation extends its purview to diverse geographic contexts, encompassing the cities of Tehran, Tabriz, and Kashan, as well as orientations in all four cardinal directions. The findings, assessed using relative error and root mean square error metrics, illuminate the variances in computed energy demands, providing valuable insights into the accuracy of the ISO 13790 approach. © 2024 IEEE
