  7. Abstract:
  8. Quantum-Dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is a novel field of nanotechnology which is being designed and implemented in molecular scales. It has major advantageous over transistor based technology such as: low power consumption, high information transition speed, small size and high density. It has been shown that conventional transistor based circuits can be implemented in this nanotechnology with less complexity. Furthermore, binary circuits can be implemented in QCA technology since QCA cells have only two independent and equivalent states. So, QCA provides appropriate space for computational circuits. The aim of computational circuits design is to achieve small size and high speed processors. To do this, many design layouts have been proposed up to now. Three new layouts in this application are proposed in this project: A counter with Count and Reset input control signals; 3-input AND/OR gats. The counter has the ability of restoring the counted value in its internal memory loop. The internal memory and control signals are the major improvements of this design over previous layouts. Parallel operation of control signals on different parts of the circuit increases speed and decreases delay of the layout which is another advantage of the proposed design. The proposed AND/OR gates use the idea of two layer majority gate. A bias is applied to change the equilibrium point of the central cell polarization. Decrease in the area and output access time is the major advantage of these layouts which is not limited to a special circuit. The proposed layouts are simulated and verified in QCADesigner, a simulation tool for QCA circuits.
