- Abstract:
- Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI), as a government owned company that provides fixed, mobile and Internet services. It is in the process of privatization. In order to be survived in competitive environment, it is required to be an agile and dynamic organization. Also it should be seriously sensitive in profit margin. To be a dynamic company, the management of the company is expecting to introduce a new and modern service named Advanced Communication Services (ACS). This service consists of Video on Demand (VOD), live and archive television programs, tell-learning and e- shopping. For TCI, it's crucial to find a right and precise answer to the challenging question "Will ACS be a feasible project". The positive answer will let TCI to remain as a leading company in market of Iran and will increase its revenue. In this thesis, UNIDO methodology has been used to find the right answer to the raised question. Based on this methodology all the running and capital expenditures have been taken into account. In this regard the cost of feasibility study, required material, designing the project, implementation and operation, knowledge workers and etc have been considered. In the other hand, for calculating the projected revenue, market analysis has been done to have a good picture of market capacity and the desired price. In the next step, financial analysis based on gathered data has been carried out. The result shows the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) %11 which is lower than Minimum Rate of return (MRR) and a negative Net Present Value (NPV). Both indexes show, without any ambiguity, that the project should not be feasible from economical perspective. The main reason is the price of data and internet link in Iran. It's too much expensive than other countries, and where it is compared with world prices. ACS needs at least 2Mbps high quality bandwidth. One of the main and essential results of this thesis is: "The new and modern telecommunication services such as ACS and IPTV which need broad band connectivity (> 2Mbbps) won't be feasible in Iran till the existing tariff slips dramatically
