Fabrication of a 3D-Printed Scaffold Containing Zoledronic Acid-Loaded Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Particles for Applications in Repairing Defects Caused by Osteoporosis

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Fathi, Fatemeh (Author) ; Mashayekhan, Shohreh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Osteoporosis, characterized by reduced bone mineral density and deterioration of bone microarchitecture, significantly increases fracture risk, and the limitations of current pharmacological therapies highlight the urgent need for smart bone regeneration systems. Accordingly, the present study aimed to develop a multifunctional, bioactive, and controllable scaffold system by integrating advanced materials with three-dimensional (3D) printing technology for the repair of osteoporotic defects. In the first phase, mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNPs) with an average diameter of 210 ± 2.8 nm were synthesized and characterized via EDX, XRD, FTIR, BET, and zeta potential analyses. To...

Design and Analysis a Robot for Hand’s weight Balancing and Tremor Improvement

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mojtaba, Hashemi (Author) ; Farahmand, Farzam (Supervisor) ; Movahedi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
All humanare subject to a physiligical phenomenon known as tremor, which introduces unintended, relatively high frequency movments into various limbs. This involuntary movment is main reason of human disability in doing of precision tasks. Precision surgery like eye surgery is among them that surgeons must have very ittle tremor to enable them to oprate on the small anatomy of the eye. In this reaearch by emphasizing on reduction of muscle fatigue in precision surgery, weight balancing mechanism designed and analyzed. Fatigue is most important cause of tremor, thus we expected tremor amplitude reduce by reduction of muscle fatigue. Purpose mechanism is passive mechanism that balances the...

Utilization of Macrocycles for the Preparation of a 3D-Printed Composite Scaffold with Drug Release Capabilities for Applications in Bone Tissue Engineering

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zolala, Hengameh (Author) ; Mashayekhan, Shohreh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Given the growing trend of population aging, the prevalence of bone disorders such as osteoporosis is increasing. Accordingly, extensive efforts have been made in recent decades to design and develop efficient systems for treating this disease. Among the drugs used for osteoporosis therapy, bisphosphonates, particularly zoledronic acid have demonstrated superior efficacy. However, the drug concentration at the defect site is of critical importance; excessive local concentrations may negatively affect the viability of bone-forming cells. Therefore, designing a system that can inhibit osteoclast activity while preserving osteoblast viability is essential. In this project, to develop a suitable...
