Abstract
In the technical-philosophical context, vagueness has a different meaning from that generally is known. In philosophical research, it refers to unclear boundaries of meaning of words and phrases. In spite of vigorous debate, philosophers largely agree about three features of vagueness: borderline cases, lack of sharp boundaries, susceptibility to sorites paradox. Relating to vagueness phenomenon, there are three general approaches named linguistic, epistemic and metaphysical ones. All these approaches struggle to determine the borderline cases consistently, give a satisfactory reason for lack sharp or clear boundaries and finally solve or dissolve sorites paradox.
