    Characterization and Properties of Red Mud and Utilization of it in Ceramics

    Abstract
    In this project, after studies about red mud, a product of the Bayer process in production of Alumina, its properties, and characteristics, red mud samples, taken from Jajarm Alumina production unit, were studied, tested, and processed. After primary preparation, characteristic determination experiments were performed on these wastes that contain iron oxide, TiO2, Al2O3, etc., and some of their physical, chemical and mineralogical characteristics were determined.     Oil and gas reservoirs in various parts of the world have declined over time, despite a high percentage of oil. Due to the increasing need for hydrocarbon resources, the need for more cost-efficient harvesting methods and less environmental damage is felt. Injection of saline water is one of the most cost-effective ways of harvesting due to the need for no expensive additives.     Abstract
    In this study, with the aim of developing a cost-effective SAPO-34 catalyst based on kaolin and evaluating the effect of synthesis conditions on its performance in the methanol-to-light-olefins (MTO) process, a hydrothermal synthesis route was designed and implemented. Three key factors—gel aging time, calcination temperature for converting kaolin to metakaolin, and the percentage of seed added to the gel—were selected as influential variables. SAPO-34 was synthesized using kaolin as the precursor, with morpholine and tetraethylammonium hydroxide employed as structure-directing agents.
