Abstract
Silver can inhibit bacterial activity. Previous studies showed that high concentration of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in compared to its lower concentrations is toxic for human health. However, by decreasing concentration of AgNPs, antibacterial activity also decreases. In this study, we investigated synergistic inhibitory activity of the combination of AgNPs and garlic oil nanoemulsion (GONE) for increase antibacterial activity of AgNPs at lower concentrations. Abstract
This paper provides a feasibility study on a low cost system called Hydrokinetic Wells turbine for surface wave energy conversion without using plenum chambers. The elimination of the plenum chamber and its complicated valve systems can reduce the expenses of wave energy conversion up to 23%.The feasibility process were done for high and low frequency conditions. For the low frequency waves, we offer the 300 rpm angular velocity as an optimum selection for further studies. The ground surface settlement caused by underground excavation is an important matter in urban development. The settlement control of large span underground station in Tehran Metro is investigated using a full three-dimensional (3-D) finite element analysis. This paper is concerned with the investigation of an optical band-pass filter based on subwavelength surface plasmon polaritons. The transmission characteristics are numerically analyzed by the finite-difference time-domain method, and simulation results reveal that the structure has a band-pass filtering characteristic. The metal–insulator–metal plasmonic nanostructure is implemented by several vertical rectangular cavities across an optical waveguide. To improve the thermal stability of starch in water-based drilling fluid, monoethanolamine (MEA) was added, and the effect was investigated by laboratory experiment. The experimental results show that the addition of monoethanolamine (MEA) increases the apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity, dynamic shear force, and static shear force of the drilling fluid, and reduces the filtration rate of drilling fluid and thickness of mud cake apparently. By creating hydrogen bonds with starch polymer, the monoethanolamine can prevent hydrolysis of starch at high temperature. We study zero-sum repeated games in which the maximizer (player or team) is restricted to strategies with limited randomness. Urease is an important target for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection. In this study, several pharmacophores for the inhibition of urease were considered and coupled to design new molecules capable of acting as potent urease inhibitors. Literature review reveals that barbituric-hydrazine, phenoxy-1,2,3-triazole, and acetamide moieties are pharmacophores for urease inhibition. In this study, energy, exergy, and exergoeconomic analysis is performed on the recent trend of joint production of liquefied natural gas and natural gas liquids based on mixed fluid cascade most important of refrigeration systems. The proposed process is first simulated and exergticly analyzed, and finally, an economic model is used to analyze the exergoeconomic performance. The results include the cost of exergy destruction, exergoeconomic factors, and exergy efficiency. Atrogenic injuries to paraspinal muscles during the posterior lumbar surgery (PLS) cause a reduction in their cross-sectional areas (CSAs) and contractile densities over time post-surgery. This study aims to quantify such alterations. Method: Pre- and postoperative CSAs (~6 months interval) of all paraspinal muscles were measured in six patients undergoing PLS using a 3-T magnetic resonance (MR) scanner to quantify the alterations in geometrical and tissue effective contractile (non-fatty) CSAs of these muscles at all lumbar levels.
