    Fault tree analysis is one of the key approaches used to analyze the reliability of critical systems. Fault trees are usually analyzed using mathematical approaches or Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). This paper presents a Fuzzy-Monte Carlo simulation (FMCS) approach in which the uncertain data is generated by the MCS approach. The FMCS approach is applied to the Weibull probability distribution which is widely been used in the analysis of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS).     Abstract
    The behavior of soil reinforced with barley straw fibers was investigated in the current study. Several static triaxial tests were performed to assess the mechanical behavior of Babolsar sand reinforced with randomly positioned barley straw fibers. The soil was supplemented with fibers that ranged in length from 6 to 12 mm at 0%, 0.3, 0.6, and 0.9% by dry weight. In static triaxial testing, confining pressures of 50, 100, and 200 kPa were used. The examination of sand reinforced with barley straw showed that fibers increased the sand’s shear strength, yield strain, and stiffness.     Membrane separator based on the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is prepared via the non-solvent-induced phase separation (NIPS) method with water and ethanol as non-solvent and a mixture of dimethylformamide (DMF) and acetone as solvent.     Design of Doped TiO2 Dye-sensitized Solar Cells with Different Arrangement Modes of Photoanode Electrodes

    In this thesis, pure –known as T- and chromium doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles –known as -CTx- with different dopant atomic ratio (0.1 to 5 %at.) were synthesized using a facile, fast and efficient method. FESEM and XRD studies showed no morphologic and structural change via Cr doping of nanoparticles (size in the range of 20-30 nm). However, according to DRS analysis, Cr intrusion in TiO2 crystal structure, drastically reduced band gap energy of pure TiO2 from 3.14 eV to 1.81 eV for CT3 powder and improved absorption range of UV-Vis spectrum.     Machine learning (ML) algorithms are becoming popular in cosmology for extracting valuable information from cosmological data. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of a convolutional neural network (CNN) trained on matter density snapshots to distinguish clustering dark energy (DE) from the cosmological constant scenario and to detect the speed of sound (cs) associated with clustering DE. We compare the CNN results with those from a Random Forest (RF) algorithm trained on power spectra. Varying the DE equation of state parameter wDE within the range of -0.7 to -0.99 while keeping c2s = 1, we find that the CNN approach results in a significant improvement in accuracy over the RF...

    Abstract
    Patella is the latest addition to the animal's skeleton. It's role in normal walking has not been clearly defined. A 9-year-old girl with congenital absence of the patella was assessed using instrumented gait analysis. The results show a tendency for the limb for external rotation, which is more pronounced during swing. We suggest that the role of the patella is mainly to redirect the force of the quadriceps tendon medially. The classically described role, which is to increase the lever arm of the quadriceps tendon, was not confirmed in this study. © 2018 Elsevier B.V

    The present study was carried out to evaluate the degradation efficiency of benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) by isolated bacteria from various petroleum-hydrocarbons contaminated sites. Five isolated bacteria were selected for testing BTX biodegradation from liquid culture media. Each of these bacteria was able to degrade BTX but with different efficiencies. Maximum biodegradation efficiency for benzene (more than 70 %) was obtained by Gram-positive coccobacillus, Gram-positive coccus and Gram-negative bacillus bacteria, for toluene (60 %) and xylene (70 %) by Gram-positive coccobacillus and Gram-negative coccobacillus.
