    The performance of OFDM-based Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) is investigated by employing different smart antenna techniques at the receiver. The use of multiple antennas at the Access Point (AP) receiver in IEEE802.11a standard-compliant Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO) configuration, improves the physical layer performance in different channel scenarios and interference that may arise from other stations sharing the same frequency band.     In this paper, we first propose a space-time-frequency (STF) coding method for multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMOOFDM) transmission over frequency-selective fading channels and then, based on channel mean feedback model, we develop an adaptive MIMO-OFDM transmitter by applying an adaptive energy and bit loading scheme across OFDM subcarriers.     In this paper, the predictions of different beam theories for the behavior of a shape memory polymer (SMP) beam in different steps of a thermomechanical cycle are compared. Employing the equilibrium equations, the governing equations of the deflection of a SMP beam in the different steps of a thermomechanical cycle, for higher order beam theories (Timoshenko Beam Theory and von-Kármán Beam Theory), are developed.     Abstract
    The inhibition effects of 3.5 bis (2-pyridil) 4-amino 1,2,4 triazole (NBTA) and 1-10 phenantrolin (PHEN), on corrosion of mild steel in acid solutions, (sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid) were studied. The Tafel polarisation and ac impedance techniques were employed. Results obtained reveal that both compounds are relatively good inhibitors. The inhibition efficiencies of NBTA are higher in hydrochloric acid than in sulphuric acid. This has been attributed to the synergistic effect of chloride ions present in hydrochloric acid. The mechanism of inhibition of PHEN is believed to be owing to the formation of insoluble chelates between the organic molecules and atom/ion on the metal surface....

    In this paper, a new fatigue lifetime prediction model is presented for the aluminium-silicon-magnesium alloy, A356.0. This model is based on the plastic strain energy density per cycle including two correction factors in order to consider the effect of the mean stress and the maximum temperature. The thermal term considers creep and oxidation damages in A356.0 alloy. To calibrate the model, isothermal fatigue and out-of-phase thermo-mechanical fatigue (TMF) tests were conducted on the A356.0 alloy.     The catalytic activity of potassium salts of phthalimide (PPI) and succinimide (PSI), as organonucleophilic catalysts, has been investigated for the cyclotrimerization of isocyanates under solvent-free conditions. PPI showed better catalytic activity in comparison with PSI.     The reliable transfer in Network on Chips (NoCs) can be threatened by crosstalk fault occurring in wires. Crossstalk fault is due to inter-wire coupling capacitance that based on the patterns of transitions appearing on the wires, significantly limits the reliability of NoCs. Among these transitions, 101 and 010 bit patterns impose the worst crosstalk effects to wires. This work intends to increase the reliability of NoCs against crosstalk faults by applying an improved Fibonacci-based numeral system, called Doubled-Penultimate Fibonacci (DP-Fibo). Here, we focused on a big challenge of this problem which is; different 3D poses might correspond to similar inputs.     Numerical simulations are performed to provide an in-depth insight into the effect of instabilities on liquid jets discharging from elliptical orifices. The axis-switching phenomenon and breakup are simulated and characterized under the effect of disturbances imposed at the nozzle exit. The simulations are based on the volume of fluid approach and an adaptive meshing. A range of orifice aspect ratios from 1 to 4 at the Rayleigh breakup regime is considered.
