Growth of Perovskite Film based on Lead Iodide by Controlling Deposition Parameters for Solar Cells Application

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Tafazoli, Saeedeh (Author) ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Seyed Reihani, Morteza (Supervisor) ; Riahi, Nastaran (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Perovskite solar cells, with high efficiency operation, have been candidated as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly technology. Despite the great progress, there are some primarily issues remained regarding to the perovskite film and its fabrication methods. A very common perovskite cell structure is FTO/TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3/Spiro-OMeTAD/Au. Although, this structure has some advantages, lack of full surface coverage of perovskite film leads researchers to put much effort on finding other constructions. This surface inhomogeneity reduces the amount of light absorption and therefore efficiency. One way to produce a complete and uniform film is applying mixed-halide composition; such as...

TiO2 surface nanostructuring for improved dye loading and light scattering in double-layered screen-printed dye-sensitized solar cells

    , Article Journal of Applied Electrochemistry ; Volume 45, Issue 8 , 2015 , Pages 831-838 ; 0021891X (ISSN) Jalali, M ; Moakhar, R. S ; Kushwaha, A ; Goh, G. K. L ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Riahi Noori, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    Kluwer Academic Publishers  2015
    Abstract
Abstract: Surface-nanostructured TiO2 nanorods were synthesized hydrothermally at 180 °C. Such nanorods have ‘crack-like’ surfaces that resemble burnt charcoal. Compared to nanorods with relatively smoother surfaces, the charcoal-like nanorods have higher-specific surface areas. By using the nanorods as a light-scattering layer in double-layered dye-sensitized solar cells, the cells based on the charcoal-like nanorods have 20 % higher dye loading and also higher diffuse reflectance compared with cells utilizing ‘smooth’ nanorods. The efficiency of a screen-printed double-layer dye-sensitized solar cell based on the charcoal-like nanorods is higher at 7.29 %. Electrochemical...

Assessment of Existing Offshore Platforms for In-Place Conditions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bassamzadeh, Nastaran Sadat (Author) ; Golafshani, Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Assessment of existing jacket type offshore platforms in Persian Gulf for life extension is of great importance in the field of offshore platforms in recent years. The main question to answer is whether an existing platform is safe enough to be used beyond the design life. Evaluation of existing jacket type offshore platforms under extreme environmental (wave) loading in Persian Gulf is a part of this major assessment. Two general approaches exist in this context, deterministic and probabilistic assessment. In this thesis, a new probabilistic method (reliability analysis) to assess offshore structures under environmental loading (extreme wave) is introduced. This method is a...

Improving CCA-based methods for SSVEP classification using a new graph reference signal

    , Article 2024 31st National and 9th International Iranian Conference on Biomedical Engineering, ICBME 2024 ; 2024 , Pages 468-475 ; 979-833152971-0 (ISBN) Noori, N ; Sardouie, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2024
    Abstract
Brain-computer interface (BCI) systems enable individuals to control external devices through brain activity. Among the various paradigms in the BCI domain, steady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEPs) are particularly dominant. One of the most effective methods for frequency detection in SSVEP-based BCIs is canonical correlation analysis (CCA). In standard CCA, a sine-cosine signal is used as a reference signal, which may not be optimal for SSVEP recognition. In this paper, we propose a novel graph reference signal that preserves a sinusoidal form, yet exhibits temporal smoothness on a graph learned from the reference signal. We employ an alternating optimization approach to obtain the...

In this paper reasons of generation of geometric imperfections in Sahand cooling tower are clearly shown and possible ways for preventing them are discussed. Applied repairing method for Sahand cooling tower is explained in detail. Geometrical imperfections of the constructed...

    , Article Heliyon ; Volume 10, Issue 16 , 2024 ; 24058440 (ISSN) Riahi, A ; Shafii, M. B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2024
    Abstract
In this study, a vapor compression refrigeration cycle integrated with a phase change material (PCM) storage tank has been dynamically simulated over a 24-h period. The primary objective of this system is to reduce electric energy consumption during on-peak hours (12:00–19:00) and shift it to off-peak hours (1:00–10:00). During off-peak hours, the vapor compression refrigeration system stores cooling energy in the PCM storage tank. The stored cooling energy is then reused during on-peak hours to pre-cool the condenser inlet refrigerant, enhancing the cooling system's performance and reducing electric consumption during on-peak hours. Oleic acid, eutectic mixtures of 45 % capric acid and 55 %...

Graph Learning from Incomplete Graph Signals

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Noori, Alireza (Author) ; Babaiezadeh, Massoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Graph learning problem aims to infer a meaningful graph structure from a dataset that can effectively represent the relationships among its data points. With the emergence of graph signal processing, efficient methods for graph learning have been introduced, which leverage the smoothness assumption of signals to learn the underlying graph. However, these methods typically require access to all data points, while in practical applications this is not always feasible. In this Master's Thesis, an optimization problem is proposed that simultaneously learns the underlying graph and estimates the missing data points from a dataset of graph signals. To solve the proposed optimization problem, a...

    Abstract
Steady State Visual Evoked Potential (SSVEP)-based Brain Computer Interfaces (BCIs) is one of the most prevalent methods in BCIs. The main purpose of these systems is to detect the frequency of SSVEP to understand which visual stimulus a person is looking at. Various methods have been proposed to detect the frequency of SSVEP. One of the most widely used methods is the Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) algorithm. Despite the simplicity and efficiency of the CCA algorithm, none of the methods based on CCA have incorporated the graph structure presented in the EEG and reference signals into the CCA cost function. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach that considers the graph...
