    In compression resin transfer molding (CRTM), resin injection and mold closing occur during the mold filling stage. In this paper, numerical simulation of threedimensional flow in compression resin transfer molding (CRTM) is presented. Numerical method is based on the control volume/finite element method (CVFEM) and the numerical algorithm to update the flow front at each time step is based on quasi-steady state approach.     Preparation of binary polyamide 6 (PA6) / carbon nano tube (CNT) and ternary PA6 / EPR-g-MA / CNT has been carried out using melt mixing. Four PA6s were selected with different viscosities (and molecular weights) and molecular structures (linear or branched).     In this study, polyethylene films made of LDPE / LLPE / reinforced with mechanical barrier of clay and reactant of iron nanoparticles were made in their optimal combination and necessary improvements were made on them. Investigations show that, independent of volume fraction, the addition of spherical nanoparticles does not have much effect on reducing the polymer matrix’s permeability. In nanocomposites containing cylindrical particles, for considerable reduction of the permeability, over 20 volume percent of nanoparticles it is required, while in platelet nanoparticles, less than 10% vol is sufficient.     Abstract
    Copper anode (∼98%) is widely used to produce the cathode (99.995 wt%) in electrorefining process. These anodes sometimes become problematic from the production line due to the presence of bumps/holes on their surface. To find the reason of this defect, chemical composition of the three casted anodes was determined by the quantmeter analysis. Also, the microscopic and phase analysis were done by FESEM, EDS, XRD, and XRF for three types of anodes bump.     Effect of organoclay (OC) on the performance of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)/phenolic resin (PH) blend prepared by two-roll mill was investigated. The influence of OC content ranging between 2.5 and 30 phr on the performance of SBR/PH was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), interfacial energy analysis, tensile, dynamic mechanical, swelling, cure rheometry and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).     Various compositions of maleated ethylene-propylene-rubber (EPR-g-MA) toughened polyamide 6 without and with short glass fiber, i.e. 5-20 wt.% rubber and 5-20 wt.% fiber, are prepared using an industrial twin-screw extruder at different levels of feed rate (100-250 kg/h), screw speed (200-450 rpm) and barrel temperature (230-260 °C). So PA6/PA66/CNT nanocomposites were compounded by melt mixing method and samples were prepared by injection molding. Due to study miscibility of PA6 and PA66, we used DMTA test and found that PA6 and PA66 are miscible because of existing one pick on DMTA graph.     Properties of melt processed polyamide 66 (PA66)/multiwalled carbon nanotube composite were first characterized experimentally. The experimental results exhibited the formation of crystalline layer around the nanotubes and a considerable enhancement in mechanical properties by incorporation of multiwalled carbon nanotube up to 1 wt%. Mechanical properties were analyzed in terms of structural parameters using micromechanical models proposed in this study.     The present study was an attempt to examine the effects of carbon and cellulose fibers on the tribological characteristics of rubber-based friction materials (RBFMs). A fiber free RBFM as a reference material and a series of fiber included RBFMs at different volume fractions were prepared by two-roll mill.     This study deals with the thermal conductivity of rubber-based composite friction materials used in railroad vehicles. Based on a commercially available railroad friction material, called here base material (BM), various friction materials containing different thermally conductive fillers (Cu, brass, Al, Al2O3 and talc) are fabricated and then their thermal conductivities are measured at various contents of the fillers.
