    Control of a Chaotic Process

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rasoulian, Shabnam (Author) ; Shahrokhi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, a chaotic chemical process has been studied and a control method has been proposed. To do this, a reactor in which two autocatalytic reactions take place in parallel has been modeled. The catalyst decay has been considered as a separate reaction. The reactor dynamic is chaotic for a set of parameter values. In this thesis, dynamic behavior of this chaotic reactor has been analyzed. The main objective is to control the product concentration and a state feedback controller based on the process linearized model has been proposed. The suggested controller possesses integral action on desired concentration to eliminate control offset. Since concentration measurement is difficult...

    Abstract
In this paper, control of a non-isothermal continuous stirred tank reactor in which two parallel autocatalytic reactions take place has been addressed. The reactor shows chaotic behavior for a certain set of reactor parameters. In order to control the product concentration, an optimal state feedback controller has been designed. Since concentrations of reactor species are not measured, an observer has been designed for implementation of the proposed control scheme. The local asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system including observer dynamics has been shown via the Lyapunov stability theorem. effectiveness of the proposed controller in load rejection and set point tracking has been...

Electro-optomechanical entanglement in two coupled optical cavities with an LC microwave circuit

    Abstract
We theoretically investigate entanglement in a hybrid quantum system comprising two optical cavities coupled to a shared microwave cavity via optomechanical interactions. Our results demonstrate that increasing the microwave input power and frequency in the allowed range enhances entanglement between the microwave–optical and optical–optical modes. We also show by change frequency of the one optical cavity in the communication domain that we still have entanglement. This ability to generate robust microwave–optical photon entanglement shows promise for various quantum technologies. Optical photons could enable secure quantum communication in optical fibers, while microwave photons allow...

    Abstract
In this paper, the effect of several different parameters on the thermal resistance of a Closed Loop Pulsating Heat Pipe (CLPHP) has been investigated. These parameters include the working fluid, the inclination angle, the filling ratio and the heat influx. Also, the impact of using nanofluids with different nano-particle concentrations has been analyzed. It was observed that a CLPHP can increase the heat transfer up to 11.5 times compared to an empty pipe. Optimum performance for a system with the water-silver nanofluid was achieved at conditions of 50% filling ratio and 0.9 K/W of thermal resistance, and for the water-titanium oxide system, these optimal conditions were found to be 40%...

    Abstract
Mixing has become a challenge in micro-fluidic systems because of the low Reynolds number in micro-channels. The method which is implemented in this paper is to use freely-swimming bacteria to enhance the mixing process. Accordingly, the Serratia marcescens bacteria were used for this matter. The mixing performance of the system is quantified by measuring the diffusion rate of Rhodamine B in a particular section of a channel connected to a chamber with varying Rhodamine B concentration. The concentration of Rhodamine B was measured using the Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) technique. The channel is in the form of a pipe and is closed on the extending side. In this paper, it is demonstrated...
