    Language Modeling Using Recurrent Neural Networks

    Abstract
    This thesis examines the differences and the similarities between the two famous RNN blocks the Long Short Term Memory and the Gated Recurrent Unit. It measure different aspects such as computational complexity, Word Error Rate, and subjective human evaluation in the task of text generation.In the computational complexity experiment results show that the LSTM takes more time to compute, in comparison to the GRU. Moving on into the next experiment the GRU slightly outperforms the LSTM in terms of WER but the perplexity for the language models tested was the same.     The novel concept of using magnetic nanofluidic electrolyte for redox flow batteries (RFBs) is demonstrated for the first time. In this regard, the stable magnetic nanofluidic electrolytes are prepared by dispersing magnetic modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MMWCNTs) in the positive electrolyte of a polysulfide-iodide redox flow battery at mass concentrations of less than 0.3 g L−1. The electrochemical behavior of magnetic nanofluidic electrolyte was examined using cyclic voltammetry at different mass concentrations of MMWCNTs with a carbon felt electrode.     This paper proposes a competent and effective scheme to enhance the ride-through capability of DFIG-based wind turbines under unbalanced voltage dip conditions. The proposed method is realized through joint use of the rotor-side converter control and a three-phase stator damping resistor (SDR) placed in series with the stator windings.     We evaluated the sorptive properties of mordenite zeolite (MOR), a copper terephthalate metal–organic framework (MOF), and graphene oxide (GO) and their potential use in treating acid rock drainage (ARD) containing Fe3+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, and Cd2+ ions. MOR was prepared via a hydrothermal method, MOF was prepared via a solvothermal method, and few-layered GO nanosheets were synthesized using Hummers’ method. The aqueous contaminants were removed by chemico-physical sorption and ion exchange in batch tests.
