Non linear predictive model control of batch polymerization of methyl methacrylate for thernal trajectory tracking

Abstract
A nonlinear predictive model controller was designed to control the temperature of a batch polymerization of methyl methacrylate. Using the mechanistic model of the polymerization, a state space model was derived and converted to transfer function model. The coefficients of the transfer function were calculated along the selected temperature trajectory by sequential linearization. 140 operation points were resulted. Model validation showed model ability in process dynamic description. Consequently, DMC algorithm was applied and one objective function was optimized. Results of control loop simulation shows a high precision ability of this algorithm in comparison to classic methods

Abstract
Commercial purity copper sheets were subjected to a severe plastic deformation technique known as constrained groove pressing (CGP). The effect of pass number, intermediate and post-annealing on the yield strength, hardness and final microstructure of the copper specimens were investigated. The initial pass increases the strength much more than the subsequent passes. Intermediate and post-annealing up to 300 °C cannot change the mechanical properties significantly and even in some cases improve the strength and hardness while reduce the hardness inhomogeneity. Microstructure after post-annealing at elevated temperatures shows abnormal grain growth. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

Abstract
Control of MMA polymerization batch reactor has intensively investigated. The nonlinear and time varying behavior of the system makes its control a challenging task. MPC algorithm is enjoying an increasing application for control of chemical processes. A sequential linearized model based predictive controller based on the DMC algorithm was designed to control the temperature of a batch MMA polymerization reactor. A genetic algorithm (GA) is suggested to optimize the cost function of DMC. The controller performance was studied via simulation. Abstract
Using a mechanical model and dislocation density based model, the evolutions of dislocation density and flow stress of pure copper during constrained groove pressing (CGP) process are investigated. In this regard, the strain and strain rate are achieved from the mechanical model and then input into the dislocation model. To verify the predicted flow stress, the process of constrained groove pressing is performed on the sheets of pure copper from one to three passes. Abstract
In the present study, plasma electrolytic oxidation process was carried out on aluminised steel with a pulsed bipolar electrical source at different frequencies, namely, 50, 300, 600 and 1500 Hz with constant 50% duty cycle for 10 min in an alkaline silicate electrolyte. Morphology, wear behaviour and corrosion resistance of the coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, pin on disc and potentiodynamic polarisation experiment in 3·5 wt-%NaCl solution. The results showed that with increasing the pulse frequency, the density of the residual pores increases, but their size as well as the coating thickness decreases. In this project, the design and simulation of a neutron-gamma tool for predicting density, hydrogen percentage, drilling mud thickness, and barite percentage were carried out. For this purpose, neutron and gamma transport in a borehole environment was modeled using the MCNPX simulation software, and the impact of various parameters, such as mud thickness and barite weight percentage, on measurement accuracy was investigated. This study investigates the price elasticity of gasoline smuggling demand in Iran. For this purpose, a panel data of monthly gasoline consumption has been used that contains data for 160 regions of distribution for Iran's Oil Production Company between 2005 and 2014. The results of estimating the monthly elasticity of gasoline smuggling demand in each region show a significant impact of the gasoline price differential between Iran and its neighboring countries, as well as the distance of each region with the neighboring countries on the demand.
