Flow Simulation to Assess Effects of Various Parameters on Performance of a Gas Ultrasonic Flowmeter
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mazaheri, Karim (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis we are going to improve an ultrasonic flowmeter accuracy by considering the influence of different parameters like temperature, pressure, etc. Firstl of all different cases of flow condition in which ultrasonic flowmeter may work are specified, then velocity and temperature profile of pipe flow are determined using Fluent software. In thr next step ultrasonic pulses transmitted are simulated by the use of code written in Matlab to find wave travel time in the flow. Evetually an accurate relation of calibration for flowmeter is determined by the use of travel time and all other flow properties to evaluate the accuracy of flowmeter in diffent cases. Relation extracted can be...
Instagram and its Relation to Moral Values
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hosseini, Hassan (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, the value-ladenness or value-neutrality of technology, new social media and as a result Instagram is investigated. It is also discussed whether values can be taken into account during the design process of technical artefacts, including new social media and Instagram, and methods are developed for this purpose. Several methods have been developed for this purpose, some of them and their compatibility with modern social media are explained; including the Value-Sensitive-Design method and the disclosive computer ethics design method. The frameworks of ethical philosophy such as virtue ethics are reviewed and the appropriate ethical framework for the analysis of new social media...
Synthesis of Antibacterial Nanoparticle for Packaging Food Application
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Yaghmaei, Soheila (Supervisor) ; Ghobadinezhad, Zahra (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
Food spoilage cased by food-borne pathogens and microorganisms is a serious problem in the food and packaging industry. Then, the demand for antibacterial agents in food packaging is growing. The antibacterial efficacy of some nanocomposites has been recognized and exploited in various industries, including the packaging industry. Also, metal organic frameworks due to their porous structure, are used in various fields such as food packaging. The purpose of this work, is synthesize hybrid nanocomposite that have promising antibacterial activity for preparation of food packaging films. Carboxymethyl cellulose is a derivative of cellulose fiber. The use of carboxymethyl cellulose as...

Abstract
The maritime inventory routing problem (MIRP) has gained attention in several aspects during the last decades. The problem has numerous variations, typically instigated from real-world complications. This paper addresses MIRP to meet demand in different ports within the defined planning horizon. A mixed integer nonlinear programming model is developed with respect to different planning and routing constraints, loading/unloading restrictions, wave and wind forces limitations, tide constraints, and ship capacity constraints. To study the effects of wave angle, wind force, and tide, the top ten important ports in Iran and nearby ports have been considered as a sample. Optimization of the ship...

Abstract
This study aims to develop a niosomal platform which can delivery drugs such as tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) to treat bacterial infections in wounds. To this end, chitosan (CS) was used to obtain a controlled drug release and at the same time antibacterial activity. By design of experiments the niosome encapsulated TCH (TCH-Nio) were optimized for their particle size and encapsulation efficiency, followed by analysis of the release profile of TCH and stability of TCH-Nio and TCH-Nio@CS. The antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity of the fabricated nanoparticles were investigated as well. The release rate of TCH from TCH-Nio@CS in all conditions is less than TCH-Nio. In addition, higher...
