, Article 37th International Conference on Computers and Industrial Engineering 2007, Alexandria, 20 October 2007 through 23 October 2007 ; Volume 2 , 2007 , Pages 1401-1405 ; 9781627486811 (ISBN) ; Haji, R ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
In this paper we consider a two-level supply chain system consisting of one warehouse and one retailer. The retailer faces Poisson demand. We introduce a new approach to inventory control in the supply chain management which is different from the classical policies used in the literature of inventory and production control systems. In this system, the retailer constantly orders a fixed amount of product to the warehouse in a predetermined time interval; i.e., the ordering size and the time interval between any two consecutive orders from the retailer to the warehouse are fixed numbers. The advantage of this policy is that the warehouse is facing a uniform and deterministic demand which...

Abstract
This study considers a two-level supply chain system consisting of one warehouse and a number of identical retailers. In this system, we incorporate transportation costs into inventory replenishment decisions. The transportation cost contains a fixed cost and a variable cost. We assume that the demand rate at each retailer is known and the demand is confined to a single item. First, we derive the total cost which is the sum of the holding mid ordering cost at the warehouse and retailers as well as the transportation cost from the warehouse to retailers. Then, we propose a search algorithm to find the economic order quantities for the warehouse and retailers which minimize the total cost. ©...

Abstract
Reactive power compensation is known as an effective tool to overcome the violations of voltage limits in electric power systems. It is also deployed to be an efficient method to minimise transmission losses. In order to maximize the effectiveness of reactive power compensation, VAr sources of proper sizes should be placed at some network buses. In this paper, a new VAr expansion tool has been developed to improve the voltage profile and reduce MW losses in a bulk power network. Keeping the minimum expansion cost and minimum switching of capacitor banks during change of load level of the system are emphasized in the proposed method. This method is based on application of genetic algorithm in...

Abstract
This paper considers a two-level supply chain consisting of one warehouse and a number of identical retailers. Unlike the common practice which determines the optimal ordering policy according to inventory costs only, in this model we consider the transportation cost as well. We suppose that the delivery of each order from the warehouse to any retailer is made by a single vehicle without splitting. We also assume that there are three types of vehicles which are defined as small, medium and large. Each type has its own fixed cost, variable cost, and the capacity size. We assume that the demand rate at each retailer is known and the demand is confined to a single item. Shortages are allowed...
Modeling (r, Q) policy in a two-level supply chain system with fuzzy demand
, Article International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowlege-Based Systems ; Volume 18, Issue 6 , 2010 , Pages 819-841 ; 02184885 (ISSN) ; Modarres Yazdi, M ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
In this paper a two level supply chain system is studied, in which the final demand is assumed to be fuzzy with triangular membership function. The inventory control policy of (r, Q) is followed for this system and unsatisfied demand is assumed to be back ordered. The objective is to minimize the total cost of the system, including ordering, holding and shortage costs. The model happens to be a nonlinear programming. Considering the complexity arising from the model, we also develop a genetic algorithm to obtain a near-optimal solution. The method is illustrated through some numerical examples

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to adopt and analyze a new ordering policycalled one-for-one-period policy in a multi-echelon supply chain consisting ofone retailer and a series of TV suppliers. The main advantage of adopting theone-for-one-period (7,7) ordering policy for retailers is the elimination ofuncertainty for supplier which leads to total elimination of the safety stocksat all suppliers. This in turn leads to the reduction of the total system costsand in case any supplier's ordering cost is negligible it can even eliminate theneed for him to carry any inventory. In addition to this advantage, thenumerical results show that the application of this new policy for the retailerleads to...

Abstract
This paper considers a two-level supply chain consisting of one warehouse and one retailer. In this model we determine the optimal ordering policy according to inventory and transportation costs. We assume that the demand rate by the retailer is known. Shortages are allowed neither at the retailer nor at the warehouse. We study this model in two cases; decentralized and centralized. In the decentralized case the retailer and the warehouse independently minimize their own costs; while in the centralized case the warehouse and the retailer are considered as a whole firm. We propose an algorithm to find economic order quantities for both the retailer and the warehouse which minimize the total...

A conceptual structure for value based assessment of dynamic reactive power support in power markets
, Article Electric Power Systems Research ; Volume 77, Issue 7 , 2007 , Pages 761-770 ; 03787796 (ISSN) ; Vakilian, M ; Feuillet, R ; Hadj Said, N ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
This paper presents a practical reactive power valuation method, for the purpose of the reactive power pricing, in which the VAr value is decomposed into two components. These components are basically different from those already employed in the literature. Using a security constrained optimization model, the proposed scheme allocates two specific amounts of MW transactions to each generator as a dynamic reactive power source. One of these allocated amounts represents the contribution of the VAr resource to the shipment of active power, while the other one represents the contribution to the protection of the system against voltage instability. The final VAr value is derived using the...
Valuation of dynamic reactive power support in multitransaction power systems

Abstract
This paper presents a reactive power valuation method with regard to its effect on realization of MW transactions. The security constraint optimization model in which the objective function is maximization of transactions is solved by the genetic algorithm approach. The proposed scheme allocates a specific amount of MW transactions to each dynamic reactive power source. An index is introduced to derive VAr value from the calculated optimal parameters of power network. This index represents the system-wide effect of MVAr sources on MW transactions implementations. Application of proposed method has been illustrated using IEEE 30 and 14 bus test systems. Results are discussed and compared in...
Dynamical Systems Approach to Interacting Dark Energy Models
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Abolhassani, Aliakbar (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis studies the possible solution to the H0 tension via a dynamical systems approach. The early dark energy (IDE) scenario can somewhat alleviate the Hubble constant tension. On the other hand, postulating a new subdominant EDE in the pre – recombination Universe can also resolve the H0 tension. We introduce a novel model to interweave the early dark energy(EDE) and interacting dark energy-dark matter (IDE) scenarios. In this scenario, the early dark energy emerges naturally by changing the topological class of the phase portrait of the universe dynamics. In particular, an EDE component contributing only 10% of the matter density of the Universe—preferably in the vicinity of the...

Abstract
Digital images allow for the objective evaluation of facial appearance and abnormalities as well as treatment outcomes and stability. With the advancement of technology, manual clinical measurements can be replaced with fully automatic photographic assessments. However, obtaining millimetric measurements on photographs does not provide clinicians with their actual value due to different image magnification ratios. A deep learning tool was developed to estimate linear measurements on images with unknown magnification using the iris diameter. A framework was designed to segment the eyes’ iris and calculate the horizontal visible iris diameter (HVID) in pixels. A constant value of 12.2 mm was...

Abstract
Deep learning (DL) has been employed for a wide range of tasks in dentistry. We aimed to systematically review studies employing DL for periodontal and implantological purposes. A systematic electronic search was conducted on four databases (Medline via PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Embase) and a repository (ArXiv) for publications after 2010, without any limitation on language. In the present review, we included studies that reported deep learning models' performance on periodontal or oral implantological tasks. Given the heterogeneities in the included studies, no meta-analysis was performed. The risk of bias was assessed using the QUADAS-2 tool. We included 47 studies: focusing on...

Abstract
Using multiple antennas at the transmit and receive sides of a passive radar brings both the benefits of MIMO radar and passive radar. However one of the obstacles arisen in such configuration is the receive antennas placement in proper positions so that the radar performance is improved. Here we just consider the case of positioning one receiver among multiple illuminators of opportunity. Indeed it is a start for the solution of optimizing the geometry of the multiple receivers in a passive radar

Abstract
In this paper, we consider an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system with wireless power transfer (WPT) where an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based radar serves a group of energy-limited communication users in addition to its sensing functionality. In this architecture, the radar senses the environment in phase 1 (namely sensing phase) and mean-while, the communications users (nodes) harvest and store the energy from the radar transmit signal. The stored energy is then used for information transmission from the nodes to UAV in phase 2, i.e., uplink phase. Performance of the radar system depends on the transmit signal as well as the receive filter; the energy of the transmit...

Abstract
One of the important obstacles in MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) radars is the issue of designing proper transmit signals. Indeed, the capability of signal design is a significant advantage in MIMO radars, through which, the system can achieve much better performance. Many different aspects of this performance improvement have been considered yet, and the transmit signals have been designed to attain such goal, e.g., getting higher SNR or better detector's performance at the receiver. However, an important tool for evaluating the radar's performance is its ambiguity function. In this paper, we consider the problem of transmit signal design, in order to optimize the ambiguity function...

Abstract
Two gains play key roles in recently developed MIMO wireless communication systems: "spatial diversity" gain and "spatial multiplexing" gain. The diversity gain refers to the capability to decrease the error rate of the MIMO channel, while the multiplexing gain implicitly refers to the amount of increase in the capacity of the MIMO channel. It has been shown that there is a fundamental tradeoff between these two types of gains, meaning interplay between increasing reliability (via an increase in the diversity gain) and increasing data rate (via an increase in the multiplexing gain). On the other hand, recently, MIMO radars have attracted much attention for their superior ability to enhance...

Abstract
It is a well known fact that using multiple antennas at transmit and receive sides improves the detection performance. However, in such multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) configuration, proper positioning of transmitters and receivers is a big challenge that can have significant influence on the performance of the overall system. In addition, determining the power of each transmitter under a total power constraint is a problem that should be solved in order to enhance the performance and coverage of such a system. In this paper, we design the Neyman-Pearson detector under the Rayleigh scatter model and use it to introduce a criterion for the antenna placement at both transmit and receive...

Abstract
There has been much interest, recently, towards exploiting the Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technique in radar. It is shown that using multiple antennas at transmit and receive sides can improve the performance of the system. However, in order to analyze the system's performance, its ambiguity function, i.e. the ambiguity function of a MIMO radar, is needed to be defined. In this paper, beginning from the information theoretic definitions, we derive such function, specifically for a MIMO radar with widely separated antennas
