CFD modeling of natural convection heat transfer of TIO2-water nanofluid in a cylindrical container

Abstract
This work focuses on numerical validation of natural convection heat transfer of TiO2-water nanofluids in a cylindrical container using COMSOL. The main aim of this study is to examine different available approaches to calculate effective thermal conductivity and compare them with experimental data available in the literature. Simulation results show that for considered mixture, average Nusselt number decreases by increasing Rayleigh number and particle volume fraction. It has been found that only one model was able to represent similar trends for given particle volume fractions, compared to experimental results

Abstract
Two-dimensional numerical simulations have been performed to study natural convection in right-angled triangular enclosures filled with water considering different aspect ratios. Continuity, momentum and energy equations are solved assuming Boussinesq approximation utilizing COMSOL. Effect of Rayleigh number, Ra, on heat transfer rate is investigated by showing Nusselt number, Nu, for a range from 1 × 104 to 1 × 107 . It is shown that increasing aspect ratio of the cavity increases averaged Nusselt number in a cavity heated from below. Finally, a correlation for heat transfer rate is developed considering the effect of aspect ratio using simulation results

Continuity, momentum and energy equations are solved assuming Boussinesq approximation utilizing COMSOL. Effect of Rayleigh number, Ra, on heat transfer rate is investigated by showing Nusselt number, Nu, for a range from 1×103 to 1×107. It is shown that decreasing central angle of the cavity increases averaged Nusselt number in a cavity heated from below. Finally, a correlation for heat transfer rate is developed considering the effect of the angle between two sides of the cavity and Ra number using simulation results

Abstract
According to some experimental observations, water droplet with high initial temperature freezes faster than a cold one. There are some explanations to this problem such as sub-cooling, evaporation and radiation. In this work, solidification process of single droplets with and without the effect of evaporation is numerically investigated for three different drop diameters and initial temperatures. It seems that evaporation itself is able to explain why hot water freezes faster than cold water. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd and IIR
CFD Modeling of Temperature Fluctuation in Mixing of Hot and Cold Streams in a Mixing Tee

Abstract
This thesis tries to suggest a simple solution to reduce the amplitude of occurred fluctuations in mixing tees. Temperature fluctuations can induce cyclical thermal stress and thermal fatigue. In order to estimate the lifetime of pipeline material and reduce the frequency and amplitude of these fluctuations, an accurate diagnosis of these fluctuations must be conducted. For this aim, a comparison between Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) models was carried out to show the ability of LES model in prediction of temperature fluctuations. Abstract
Feed-in tariff (FiT) is one of the most efficient ways that many governments throughout the world use to stimulate investment in renewable energies (REs) technology. For governments, financial management of the policy could be challenging as it needs a considerable amount of budget to support RE producers during the long remuneration period. In this paper, it has been illuminated that the early growth of REs capacity could be a temporary boost.
