An electro membrane extraction (EME) methodology was utilized to study the isolation of some environmentally important pollutants, such as chlorophenols, from aquatic media based upon the electrokinetic migration process. The analytes were transported by application of an electrical potential difference over a supported liquid membrane (SLM). Abstract
Carbon-doped zinc oxide/reduced graphene oxide (C-ZnO/rGO) was prepared by a facile one-pot supercritical methanol method. The synthesized C-ZnO/rGO nanocomposite with flower-like ZnO micro-rods (MRs) synergistically inherited all the advantages of carbon doping and rGO heterojunction and exhibited high photocatalytic activity for the photodegradation of methyl orange (MO) under visible light. Abstract
Supercritical water was used for simultaneous fragmentation and reduction of graphene oxide (GO) sheets into water-dispersible graphene quantum dots (GQDs) with tunable sizes. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) demonstrated that by increasing the temperature above the critical point of water, the average size and thickness of the GQDs were decreased and the size uniformity and production yield were increased. Hematite is recognized as a promising photoanode for photoelectrochemical water oxidation to produce solar hydrogen due to its favorable properties. However, the high charge carrier recombination rate due to low electrical conductivity and sluggish oxygen reduction kinetics of pure hematite hinder its photocatalytic activity. Within the nevus spilus, an extensive range of atypical nevi of different morphologies may manifest. Abstract
Syzbot continuously fuzzes the full Linux kernel to discover latent bugs. Yet, around 75% of recent kernel bugs are caused by recent patches, dubbed regression bugs. Regression fuzzing prioritizes inputs that target recently or frequently patched code. However, this heuristic breaks down in the kernel environment as there are too many patches (and therefore too many targets). To improve regression fuzzing, we note that certain code change patterns (e.g., modifying GOTO) carry more risk of introducing bugs than others. We report on charge transport across self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of short tau peptides by probing the electron tunneling rates and quantum mechanical simulation. We measured the electron tunneling rates across SAMs of carboxyl-terminated linker molecules (C6H12O2S) and short cis-tau (CT) and trans-tau (TT) peptides, supported on template-stripped gold (AuTS) bottom electrode, with Eutectic Gallium-Indium (EGaIn)(EGaIn) top electrode. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are one of the preferred candidates for reinforcing polymeric nanobiocomposites, such as acrylic bone type of cement. In this study, at first, bulk samples of the reinforced polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) matrix were prepared with 0.1, 0.25, and 0.5 wt per wt% of MWCNTs by the casting method. The effects of the current density on the microstructure and the corrosion property of the coating on AZ31 Mg alloy processed by the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) were investigated. The present coatings were produced in an acid electrolyte containing K2ZrF6 with three different current densities, i.e., 100, 150, and 200 mA/cm2. From the microstructural observations, as the applied current density was increased, the diameter of micro-pores formed by the plasma discharges with high temperature increased. For elastic scattering of 133Cs atoms by 85Rb and 87Rb atoms, interacting via the X 1Σ+ and a 3Σ+ molecular states of RbCs, calculations are presented of the scattering length and the effective range and also of two volume parameters, one for low energy p-wave scattering and one for the energy of an ensemble of fermions. The calculations are performed by various methods, with several representations of the interatomic potentials, including new ab initio potentials presented here. Abstract
We report the discovery of a cold Super-Earth planet (mp = 4.4 ± 0.5 M) orbiting a lowmass (M = 0.23 ± 0.03 M) M dwarf at projected separation a = 1.18 ± 0.10 a.u., i.e., about 1.9 times the distance the snow line. The system is quite nearby for a microlensing planet, DL = 0.86 ± 0.09 kpc. Indeed, it was the large lens-source relative parallax πrel = 1.0 mas (combined with the low mass M) that gave rise to the large, and thus well-measured, "microlens parallax πE ∞ (πrel/M)1/2 that enabled these precise measurements.
