Abstract
In this paper, analytical solutions are derived for the study of steady-state electrolyte flow in a circular microchannel under the simultaneous effects of an external electric field and uniform wall injection. The Navier-Stokes equations containing an axial linear electric body force are transformed to a fourth-order nonlinear differential equation and solved analytically using a series solution method. The most important results are presented and discussed in terms of radial Reynolds number and a fundamental non-dimensional electric field parameter. Abstract
Steady-state convective heat transfer around a circular cylinder embedded in porous media is studied in the range of low and moderate Peclet numbers less than 40. The cylinder is at constant temperature and the Darcy model is used for the analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer in porous media. The governing equations are discretised using finite volume approach based on staggered grids. The powerlaw scheme is used in the numerical solution and a SIMPLE-like algorithm is developed and used in the solution process. Abstract
Analytical analysis of fluid flow in cylindrical microchannels subjected to uniform wall injection at various Reynolds numbers is presented. The classical Navier-Stokes equations are used in the present study. Mathematically, using an appropriate change of variable, Navier-Stokes equations are transformed to a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The governing equations are solved analytically using series solution method. The presented analytical results can be used for the prediction of velocity profiles and pressure drops in the cylindrical micro channels. Abstract
The steady-state laminar and incompressible vapor flow in four partially-beated concentric annular beat pipe (CAHP) is studied. The governing equations are solved numerically, using finite volume approach based on collocated grids. The first order upwind scheme and the QUICK scheme are used in the numerical solution. The vapor pressure distributions and velocity profiles along the annular vapor space are predicted for a number of test cases in the range of low to moderate radial Reynolds numbers. Thermal conductivity, thermal dispersion, and structural effects in resin transfer molding (RTM) process are studied numerically. The injection part of the RTM process is modeled as a transport of resin flow through a fibrous porous medium in a long rectangular channel. The fluid flow is modeled using the Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model and the heat transfer process using the energy equation based on local thermal equilibrium assumption.
