Longitudinal and transverse vibration of a single-walled carbon nanotube subjected to a moving nanoparticle accounting for both nonlocal and inertial effects
, Article Physica E: Low-Dimensional Systems and Nanostructures ; Volume 42, Issue 9 , 2010 , Pages 2391-2401 ; 13869477 (ISSN) ; Sharif University of Technology
2010
Abstract
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) can be promising delivery nanodevices for a diverse range of applications, however, little is known about their dynamical interactions with moving nanoscale particles. In this paper, dynamic response of a SWCNT subjected to a moving nanoparticle is examined in the framework of the nonlocal continuum theory of Eringen. The inertial effects of the moving nanoparticle and the existing friction between the nanoparticle surface and the inner surface of the SWCNT are incorporated in the formulation of the problem. The equivalent continuum structure associated with the SWCNT is considered and modeled using nonlocal Rayleigh beam theory under simply supported...
Free longitudinal vibration of tapered nanowires in the context of nonlocal continuum theory via a perturbation technique
, Article Physica E: Low-Dimensional Systems and Nanostructures ; Volume 43, Issue 1 , November , 2010 , Pages 387-397 ; 13869477 (ISSN) ; Sharif University of Technology
2010
Abstract
The free longitudinal vibration of tapered nanowires is investigated in the context of nonlocal continuum theory. The problem is studied for the nanowires with linearly varied radii under fixedfixed and fixedfree boundary conditions. In order to assess the problem in a more general form, a perturbation technique is proposed based on the Fredholm alternative theorem. The natural frequencies, corresponding mode shapes, and phase velocities of the tapered nanowires are derived analytically up to the second-order perturbation for different boundary conditions. The predicted results by the perturbation technique are successfully verified with those of the exact solution. The obtained results...

, Article International Journal of Mechanical Sciences ; Volume 52, Issue 10 , 2010 , Pages 1343-1356 ; 00207403 (ISSN) ; Sharif University of Technology
2010
Abstract
A single-walled nanotube structure embedded in an elastic matrix is simulated by the nonlocal EulerBernoulli, Timoshenko, and higher order beams. The beams are assumed to be elastically supported and attached to continuous lateral and rotational springs to take into account the effects of the surrounding matrix. The discrete equations of motion associated with free transverse vibration of each model are established in the context of the nonlocal continuum mechanics of Eringen using Hamilton's principle and an efficient meshless method. The effects of slenderness ratio of the nanotube, small scale effect parameter, initial axial force and the stiffness of the surrounding matrix on the natural...
Robust integrated orbit and attitude estimation using geophysical data
, Article Aerospace Science and Technology ; Volume 93 , 2019 ; 12709638 (ISSN) ; Sharif University of Technology
Elsevier Masson SAS
2019
Abstract
Geophysical information such as the Earth geomagnetic field and gravity gradient (GG) data can provide a basis for autonomous concurrent orbit and attitude estimation (COAE) of satellites in low earth orbits (LEO), as magnetometers and gravity gradiometer measurements are in general functions of time, position as well as the vehicle's orientation. While gradiometer has recently been investigated just for orbit estimation (OE), the current study is focused on COAE via only utility of the GG data. To this aim, observability conditions are analyzed, where the sensitivity of the proposed COAE approach with respect to various system and roto-translational elements is also examined. Considering...

Abstract
"Web 2.0" refers to a second generation of web development and design, that facilitates communication, secure information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration on the World Wide Web. The truth is that Web 2.0 is a difficult term to define, even for web experts. Usually phrases like "the web as platform" and "architecture of participation" are used to describe this term. Examples of Web 2.0 include web-based communities, hosted services, web applications, social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, blogs, mashups and folksonomies. The Internet is changing medicine and Web 2.0 is the current buzz word in the World Wide Web dictionary. Radiology in the Web 2.0 probably refers to...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Moeini Aghtaei, Moein (Supervisor)
Abstract
Cryptocurrency miners by solving complex mathematical calculations are responsible for verifying the transactions made in the blockchain network as well as maintaining its security, and as a reward for these activities, they receive bitcoins from the network. The devices used to mine cryptocurrency in order to perform the aforementioned calculations need high electricity consumption, so that the main cost of mining is related to its electricity consumption. For this reason, the ever-increasing development of the blockchain network, as well as the significant growth of the value of Bitcoin, has increased the number of cryptocurrency miners, especially in countries with low electricity costs....

In power distribution systems as the connection point of power systems with customers, there are many opportunities for improving the flexibility level of systems. Nowadays, the emergence of prosumers has created new opportunities for distribution system operators in providing the system with different services of flexibility in distribution systems. Therefore,...

Abstract
The issue of loss allocation is one of the most important issues that has long been considered in electricity networks, including distribution and transmission. With changes in distribution networks over the years and the penetration of distributed energy sources, the allocation of losses has become more of a challenge than ever before. Hence, there is a need for a loss allocation algorithm that can be implemented in any network and with any topology. In this dissertation, a new, simple and at the same time efficient algorithm for allocating real losses in all networks (distribution - transmission) and with any structure (radial - circular) is presented. This algorithm first tracks the...
Presenting a New Model for Planning Studies of a Multi-energy Microgrid to Achieve a Low-carbon Society
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Moeini Aghtaie, Moein (Supervisor)
Abstract
With the growing population and the development of human societies, the demand for energy increases. And it is expected that for the next few decades, fossil fuels will continue to be recognized as the main sources of energy supply and used to meet energy demand. One of the biggest disadvantages of fossil fuel consumption is the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which raises the Earth's temperature and has devastating effects on the climate and the lives of its inhabitants. On the other hand, fossil fuels are recognized as non-renewable sources and their lifespan is only for the next few decades. Today, one of the major concerns of societies, especially in developed...

Abstract
By entering the concepts of transactive energy systems, microgrids and peer-to-peer networks into the local energy market, it has made it possible to implement local energy market in the microgrids more than ever. In transactive energy systems, with the elimination of the intermediate entity, exchanges take place directly between the different parts of the system, which results in increased system flexibility and reduced system costs. In this study, by applying blockchains in local energy market and in micro-grids and transactive energy systems, a framework is proposed to implement local energy market in an energy micro-grid based on blockchain. By using blockchain features and structure,...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Moeini Eghtaei, Moein (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis proposes an energy management model for a residential prosumer building which is a multi-carrier energy hub in a grid-connected mode. Power may be bought and sold between the building energy system and the power grid. Solar panels and solar water heaters are integrated into the building's energy system to create electricity and heat, which may be used in a variety of ways: used immediately to meet the home's demands, stored in batteries and heat banks for later use, or sold back to the power grid to earn income. The energy dispatch is managed such that the overall energy consumption cost is minimized, considering the variation in electricity price (grid tariff), renewable energy...
