Abstract
The effect of dielectric cladding on the waveguiding characteristics of an array of metallic pillars on a metal plane in the sub-terahertz band is explored. Firstly, a 2D structure made up of a metallic grating of infinite lateral width with various dielectric overlays is analytically studied to get more insight into the problem. Then the ideas inferred from the 2D structure are applied to the realistic 3D structure that has a finite lateral width. Abstract
In this paper, a novel steganographic method is proposed which is based on the spatial domain: Least Significant Bit (LSB). The LSB matching method proposed by Mielikainen utilizes a binary function to reduce the number of changed pixel values. While in this paper a bipolar evaluating system is proposed to assess the performance of different orders for LSB matching. Afterward a genetic algorithm strategy is employed to search for an optimal solution among all the permutation orders. The experimental results show that by employing the proposed bipolar evaluating system, the distortion of the stego-image is reduced while the probability of detection is decreased

Abstract
Dynamic properties of soil, such as shear modulus and damping ratio, are necessary for analyzing the dynamic response of the soil in geostructures. This study investigates the effects of partially inherent anisotropy and stress-induced anisotropy on the shear stiffness of unsaturated soil through a series of dynamic hollow cylinder tests at medium strain levels. The different inherent anisotropy in tested sand specimens was introduced through different compaction water contents in the sample preparation stage while keeping the void ratio nearly constant. As known, in larger scale the continuity of the rock material is interrupted by separated planes such as bedding planes, faults, shear zones, closure and the behaviour converts to be inelastic and anisotropic. In this paper we consider maintaining the visibility of a segment observer moving inside a simple polygon. A practical instance of this problem is to identify the regions of a planar scene illuminated by a fluorescent lamp while the lamp moves around. We consider both strong and weak visibility in this paper. Our method is based on the shortest path tree which builds a linear-sized data structure in O(n) time, where n is the number of the vertices of the underlying simple polygon P. In the study presented herein, a simple method for laboratory calcite cementation of a reconstituted gravelly sand was presented. This method was used to prepare cemented gravelly sand specimens, which have similar natural characteristics to alluvial deposit of the city of Tehran. Abstract
We have studied the cosmic microwave background (CMB) map looking for features beyond cosmological isotropy. We began by tiling the CMB variance maps (which are produced by different smoothing scales) with stripes of different sizes along the most prominent dipole direction. We were able to confirm previous findings regarding the significance of the dipole. Furthermore, we discovered that some of the higher multipoles exhibit significance comparable to the dipole that naturally depends on the smoothing scales. The focus of this study is on the shear modulus and damping ratio, as two of the most commonly used parameters in dynamic analysis of soil behavior, and the effect of calcite cementation on their variations. A conventional triaxial test device was modified to characterize the hydro-mechanical behavior of a loessial soil during isotropic and shear loadings. This device is capable of precise and continuous measurements of water outflow during the application of loading. The tests were performed on "undisturbed" cylindrical specimens, which were taken from loessial deposits in Gorgan, a city in the northeast of Iran. Let P be a rectilinear simple polygon. The stabbing number of a partition of P into rectangles is the maximum number of rectangles stabbed by any axis-parallel line segment inside P. We present a 3-approximation algorithm for the problem of finding a partition with minimum stabbing number. It is based on an algorithm that finds an optimal partition for histograms. We also study Steiner triangulations of a simple (nonrectilinear) polygon P. Here the stabbing number is defined as the maximum number of triangles that can be stabbed by any line segment inside P.
