    Abstract
    Electrospray ionization of 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid readily affords its doubly deprotonated dicarboxylate dianion (1 2-). This species clusters with background water and added alcohols in an ion trap at ∼10-3 Torr. Sequential solvation is observed to afford mono and dicoordinated ions. Surprisingly, the latter cluster (1 2- • 2TFE) is protonated by 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) whereas 1 2-and 1 2- • TFE are not even though δHacid(TFE)=361.7±2.5kcalmol-1 (as given in the NIST website at http://webbook.nist.gov) and the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) proton affinities are 384.7 (1 2-), 377.6 (1 2- • TFE), and 362.7 (1 2- • 2TFE) kcal mol-1.     Abstract
    For a given quantum field theory, provided the area of the entangling surface is fixed, what surface maximizes entanglement entropy? We analyze the answer to this question in four and higher dimensions. Surprisingly, in four dimensions the answer is related to a mathematical problem of finding surfaces that minimize the Willmore (bending) energy and eventually to the Willmore conjecture. We propose a generalization of the Willmore energy in higher dimensions and analyze its minimizers in a general class of topologies Sm×Sn and make certain observations and conjectures that may have some mathematical significance  

    Application of a dual functional luminescent layer to enhance the light harvesting efficiency of dye sensitized solar cell

    Abstract
    A luminescent coating of CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ particles applied on photoanode (TiO2) layer of SQ1 sensitized solar cell by doctor blading the paste of phosphor particles. The luminescent layer acted as a dual functional layer and enhanced the short circuit current density (JSC) by 64% via both scattering effect and downshifting of the photons in 400-600nm spectral range to photons in 600-800nm spectral range. Considerable relative enhancement in incident photon to current conversion efficiency (IPCE) up to 350% in 400-600nm spectral range proves the down shifting effect as the dominant factor for the improved performance of dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC). © 2016 Elsevier B.V

    A simple functional form for a general equation of state based on an effective near-neighbor pair interaction of an extended Lennard-Jones (12,6,3) type is given and tested against experimental data for a wide variety of fluids and solids. Computer simulation results for ionic liquids are used for further evaluation. For fluids, there appears to be no upper density limitation on the equation of state. The lower density limit for isotherms near the critical temperature is the critical density.     This paper introduces a new hybrid electro membrane bioreactor (HEMBR) for reverse osmosis (RO) pretreatment and advanced treatment of effluent by simultaneously integrating electrical coagulation (EC) with a membrane bioreactor (MBR) and its performance was compared with conventional MBR. Experimental results and their statistical analysis showed removal efficiency for suspended solids (SS) of almost 100% for both reactors. HEMBR removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD) improved by 4% and membrane fouling was alleviated according to transmembrane pressure (TMP).     Abstract
    The subject of this study is to investigate the effect of repair on the fatigue life of tubular joints. Six cracked specimens previously subjected to fatigue loading underwent weld repair. Two of these specimens were shot peened before primary fatigue loading. It is shown that repair for the original specimens increases the fatigue life by roughly 150%. The increase of fatigue life for shot peened and repaired specimens is around 105%. The in-depth residual stresses are measured on the repaired joints before and after fatigue loading. This study focuses on enhancing the adsorption capacity of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) to remove methylene blue (MB) dye from water.
