Abstract
A new method for seismic analysis of containers in three-dimensional space is introduced in which the effects of both impulsive and convective components and their corresponding damping are accounted for in time domain. A case study is performed to investigate the behaviour of a concrete rectangular container under the effects of horizontal and vertical ground motions using the scaled earthquake components of the 1940 El-Centro earthquake record. Abstract
In this paper, a special probe is designed using an array of photodiodes and a 960 nm LED for recording the wrist photoplethysmogram (PPG). The design is based on Monte-Carlo simulation of light propagation in tissues. Two series of experiments were carried-out: normal breathing and deep breathing. In both experiments, finger and wrist PPG were simultaneously recorded from the index finger. Inability of endothelial cells in responding to metabolic needs (endothelial dysfunction,) is a sign of heart diseases like atherosclerosis and vascular stenosis. Recently, a new method using finger PPG signal has been proposed to determine endothelial function in response to reactive hypertension (RH.) In this study, we investigate opinion formation in society using the Blume–Capel model. The Blume–Capel model is a physical spin model in which each site can adopt one of three spin states; we use these spins to represent individuals’ opinions. Each spin corresponds to a distinct opinion (for example, positive, negative, or neutral), and the interactions among spins drive the dynamics of opinion formation in a community. Abstract
One of the drawbacks to post-process and to interpret ultrasound medical images is speckle noise. In this paper we used fourth-order partial differential equation method proposed by Lysaker et al. for speckle reduction of ultrasound images. We used two groups of images first was the synthesized noisy image and second is real ultrasonic images. Endothelial dysfunction assessment has received considerable attention due to its potential in early screening of cardiovascular diseases. Since the seminal work by Celermajer in flow-mediated dilation (FMD) based on B-mode ultrasound measurement of the brachial artery dilation following limb ischemia, many attempts have been made toward applying this method to clinical, non-invasive endothelial dysfunction assessment. Abstract
Using simultaneous photoplethysmogram (PPG) and pulse transducer signals from the same finger, a high correlation (Mean: 98.6, STD: 1) is obtained between the AC part of the PPG and estimated volume changes (after normalization). These results point to the fact that in the resting fingertip, PPG signal variations are only due to volume changes and that blood density does not change thus has no contribution

Abstract
In this paper, distributed electroencephalographic (EEG) sources in the brain have been mapped with the objective of early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). To this end, records from a montage of a high-density EEG from 17 early AD patients and 17 matched healthy control subjects were considered. Subjects were in eyes-closed, resting-state condition. Cortical EEG sources were modeled by the standardized low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA) method.
