Artificial Intelligence-Based Analysis of Geometric Uncertainties on a Single-Stage Axial Compressor Performance

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kalabi, Mehrab (Author) ; Farahani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, the effect of geometric uncertainties on the performance of a single-stage transonic axial compressor is investigated. As one of the main components of an aircraft engine, the compressor increases the internal energy of the flow by raising the total pressure. Due to the adverse pressure gradient in compressors, examining this issue is of greater importance compared to other engine components. Deviations of geometric parameters from their nominal values can lead to detrimental phenomena such as flow separation, surge, and choking. Therefore, compressor performance under geometric uncertainties is analyzed at the design point, near choking, and near instability conditions. By...

Durability of Rammed Earth Material In Dry Semi-Equatorial Climate Environments

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Habibi, Sogol Alsadat (Author) ; Toufigh, Vahab (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Within the realm of construction, the mechanical properties of materials hold significant importance. Currently, as the world strives towards environmentally friendly construction practices, there is a concerted effort to utilize both recycled materials and strong, long-lasting construction techniques. The research conducted on Kish Island, Iran, specifically examines the significance of mechanical properties in the field of construction. The soil samples were obtained from a depth of 2 to 3 meters below the surface, and a binder was introduced to enhance the soil's inherent weak properties. The study investigated the utilization of cement as a cohesive substance, analyzing three different...

Design of a Sustainable Supply Chain Network for Urban Spent Batteries

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kalabi, Sogol (Author) ; Akbari Jokar, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Memari, Ashkan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This research addresses the design and optimization of a sustainable supply chain for an environmental startup, with a focus on the collection and recycling of urban alkaline batteries in Tehran. This problem is motivated by the lack of proper management of this type of waste, its environmental pollution, and the resulting loss of natural resources. The main concern is the optimal selection of metro stations to be equipped with collection boxes and the determination of the transportation and recycling network structure in such a way that the economic performance of the network (total profit/cost) is optimized while environmental impacts (carbon emissions) are controlled simultaneously. To...
