, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Javadi Sigaroudi, Mohammad Javad (Author) ; Asghari, Mohsen (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the extensively used, yet complex, structures in the industry is pre-twisted Micro/Nano beams. Studying their mechanical behavior helps to have a broader view of them. In this present study, explores and analyzes the behavior of a pre-twisted Micro/Nano beam with a quadrangular/rectangular cross-section using the strain gradient theory and modified couple stress theory. Using the calculus of variations and the Hamiltonian principle the elastodynamics governing partial differential equations of transverse deflection of the pre-twisted Micro/Nano beam with hinged-hinged boundary conditions are derived. Then the mechanical behavior of the pre-twisted Micro/Nano beam in static mode and...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Javadi Sigaroudi, Mohammad Javad (Author) ; Sohrabpour, Saeed (Supervisor) ; Asghari, Mohsen (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Research in the field of medical science goes back decades and significant progress has been made in understanding the behavior of organs and living tissues. Consequently, scientists need to work towards identifying how to mathematically model the mechanical behavior of these living organisms. If we consider any living entity, we can see that they are a product of atoms, molecules, cells, tissues, and/or organs. Differential geometry and continuum mechanics indicate that during the growth process these organisms are influenced by the phenomena of aging, remodeling and morphogenesis. The majority of research in this area, i.e. the study of these important phenomena in living tissues, has...

    , Article 33rd AIAA Fluid Dynamics Conference and Exhibit 2003, Orlando, FL, 23 June 2003 through 26 June 2003 ; 2003 ; 9781624100956 (ISBN) Darbandi, M ; Taeibi Rahni, M ; Schneider, G. E ; Javad, K ; Javadi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2003
    Abstract
The interaction of a jet with a turbulent cross-stream is numerically investigated in this work. The interaction creates many different complex vortices which in turn interact with the main and jet flow as well as themselves. Considering a broad range of applications for the jet/turbulent boundary-layer interaction in industries, better design considerations can be achieved if good knowledge of the mixing behaviour is provided. Therefore, a close look on the near and far fields of a jet in a crossflow is provided in this work. The study is fulfilled by developing a semi-implicit pressure-based algorithm incorporated by Reynolds stress model. The results indicate that the flow topology is...

Vortex Shedding Control behind Helicopter Rotor Blades, using Thin Oscillating Plates- Application to Helicopter Noise Reduction

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohseni, Mohammad Hassan (Author) ; Javadi, Khodayar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The interaction of the vortices and helicopter’s blades is the most significant source of generating the main rotor’s noise, especially in landing and rising. The kind of this noise is broadband and it is produced because of establishing the vortices behind the forward blade, their interaction with backward blade, changing their structures and creating turbulency loading. The known method for modeling of the interaction of the vortices structures and solid surfaces is the simple compounding the rod and airfoil. In this project, by using this method, the noise of the interaction of vortex and blade is modeled in the Reynolds number of 48000 with LES and FW-H Analogy as a hibrid method in...

Numerical/Experimental Investigation of Semi-Spherical Bumps on Separation Control and Lift Enhancement

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Lotfikar, Mohammad Amin (Author) ; Javadi, Khodayar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The main purpose of the current study is to control the boundary layer of the flow passing over the wing and the lift force enhancement. In this research has been tried to introduce a new generation of passive flow control and use bumpy surface structures to control the separated flow and increase the aerodynamic efficiency. Therefore, the wing with the hawk bird’s airfoil section has been designated. Then, assuming a viscous, incompressible flow and a low Reynolds number range (about 2 × 105), the flow formation and boundary layer development on this wing has been investigated. Subsequently, bump structures have been settled on the upper surface of this wing. The numerical simulations have...

    Abstract
In this piece of work, a gravity model is suggested as Iranian non-fuel export model to OIC countries. The most important results out of this model are the acquired coefficients of two variables, namely “ECO membership” and “Economic and Trade Freedom of Importer”. At first, we expected that for importer, being a member of ECO would increase the amount of trade with iran. Surprisingly, this is not what we see in a model. In fact, as ECO has not achieved any tangible success in increasing trade between its members, eastern Asian Muslim countries has become an important trade partner for iranians. This result is compatible with other pieces of researches about ECO. “Economic and Trade Freedom...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jamali, Mohammad Vahid (Author) ; Salehi, Javad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today’s growing interest to the underwater explorations and navigations demands to design appropriate underwater communication methods and systems. However, radio frequencies which are widely being used in free space communications, can’t be a good candidate for underwater wireless communications, due to their sever attenuation in water. On the other hand, underwater acoustic communication has been widely studied and implemented in the past decades, inspired by suitable propagation of acoustic waves through the underwater medium. Nevertheless, acoustic communication systems have limited bandwidth, lower propagation speed and lower security than optical counterparts, which suggests underwater...

    Abstract
Visible light communication (VLC) uses huge license-free spectral bandwidth of visible light for high-speed wireless communication. Since each VLC access point covers a small area, handovers of mobile users are inevitable. In order to deal with these handovers, developing fast and effective resource allocation algorithms is a challenge. this paper introduces the problem of mobility-aware optimization of resources in hybrid VLC and 5G radio access technologies networks using the T-step look-ahead policy and employing the notion of handover efficiency. It is shown that the handover efficiency can correlate the overall performance of the network with future actions based on the mobility of...

The five models for coolant hole are: square model, CTJ model, 3-circle model, semicircle horseshoe model and parabolic horseshoe model. The injection angle...

Design, Analysis and Manufacturing of Gas Foil Bearing

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Majidi, Mohammad Hassan (Author) ; Akbari, Javad (Supervisor) ; Movahhedy, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Foil gas bearings are compliant surface, self-acting hydrodynamic bearings that use ambient gas as their working fluid. They do not require external pressurization and are typically constructed from several layers of sheet metal foils. In high-speed, high-temperature applications the GFB’s have the advantage of developing higher load capacities than with fixed geometry gas bearings. Since GFB’s have a complex structure consisting of a spring-like substructure with an overlying flexible surface, there exists a great variety of permutations on any given design. At current work presents a 1D model for GFB with couple solving Reynolds and Euler-Bernoulli beam equation. This mean top foil assume to...
