High-Photoresponsive backward diode by two-dimensional SnS2/Silicon heterostructure

Abstract
Two-dimensional semiconductor materials can be combined with conventional silicon-based technology and sort out part of the future challenges in semiconductor technologies due to their novel electrical and optical properties. Here, we exploit the optoelectronics property of the silicon/SnS2 heterojunction and present a new class of backward diodes using a straightforward fabrication method. The results indicate an efficient device with fast photoresponse time (5-10 μs), high photoresponsivity (3740 AW-1), and high quantum efficiency (490%). Fixed gain controllers for automatic generation control are designed at nominal operating conditions and fail to provide best control performance over a wide range of operating conditions. So, to keep system performance near its optimum, it is desirable to track the operating conditions and use updated parameters to compute control gains. Abstract
A novel nanocarrier based-on hollow mesoporous carbon nanospheres (HMCNs) with primary amines on its surface, a large cavity, and good hydrophilicity was synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction. The primary amine functionalities on the mesoporous carbon were used as the initiation sites for growing poly (epichlorohydrin) (PCH) chains. The chlorine groups in the side chain of PCH were replaced with imidazole as the pendant groups. Calcium chloride (CaCl2) was applied as a capping agent. Abstract
This paper deals with the dynamic response and energy absorption of foam-filled aluminum parabolic tubes under axial impact loading. The numerical crush analysis of empty and foam-filled tubes is performed using non-linear finite element techniques. The effects of geometrical (wall thickness) and material parameters (foam density and Young's relaxation modulus) on the impact response and energy absorption capacity of foam-filled tube are investigated using numerical models. Abstract
Shape memory hydrogels attract increasing attention as flexible strain sensors due to their shape recovery property that can improve the lifetime of the sensor. Herein, we have designed a magnetic shape memory hydrogel based on Fe3O4 nanoparticles, carrageenan, and poly (acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) with self-adhesive and conductive properties. The resulting double network hydrogel showed promising actuator and strain sensor applications. Electrical conductivity was observed in this hydrogel without using additional ions. Abstract
Due to high surface to volume ratio and tunable band gap, two dimensional (2D) layered materials such as MoS2, is good candidate for gas sensing applications. This research mainly focuses on variation of Density of States (DOS) of MoS2 monolayes caused by ethanol adsorption. The nanosheets are synthesized by liquid exfoliation, and then using Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy (STS) and Density Functional Theory (DFT), local electronic characteristic such as DOS and band gap in non-vacuum condition are analyzed. Abstract
A novel magnetic Br∅nsted acid catalyst was synthesized based on growing poly(amidoamine) dendrimers on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. After the dendronizing process, the MNP coated PAMAM was functionalized by chlorosulfuric acid to form an acid catalyst. Because of dendrimer coating of MNPs, catalyst shows good loading level of acidic groups on the surface. Also zwitterion nature of catalyst surface improves the catalytic activity. Abstract
A novel poly(ionic liquid) (PIL) coated magnetic nanoparticle was synthesized by distillation-precipitation-polymerization of 1-vinyl-3- ethyl imidazolium in the presence of surface modified magnetic nanoparticles. The resulting catalyst was used as magnetic heterogeneous base catalyst for the synthesis of 4H-benzo[b]pyrans in water. The separation of the catalyst from the reaction mixture was readily achieved by simple magnetic decantation and the catalyst could be easily recycled without appreciable loss of catalytic activity. In the view of the latest status and the potential of developing wind energy in South Africa, the present study aims to perform technical–economic–environmental analysis on a wind turbine system with HOMER software using the 20-years average data of the wind speed obtained from NASA's database, for providing the electricity to residential buildings. The results showed that the Port Elizabeth station, had the lowest levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) with the value of -0.363 $/kWh when using the EOLO wind turbine, and the Bloemfontein station had the highest LCOE with the value of 1.601 $/kWh when using the Turby wind turbine. Tapered piezoelectric beams, because of their more efficiency to generate power, are required to be analyzed by simple models. In this paper, single degree of freedom (SDOF) relations are used to model transvers vibration of an exponentially tapered piezoelectric beam. For this purpose, first, response of the damped cantilevered Euler–Bernoulli beam with base excitation is obtained. Then, lumped parameters of the beam are extracted in order to calculate the SDOF model response. This paper investigates the nonlinear dynamic response of a viscoelastic pipe conveying fluid subjected to a uniform external cross flow based on the Euler-Bernoulli theory. The main objective of this work is to find the proper viscoelastic coefficients to mitigate the dynamic response of a marine riser. Abstract
This paper introduces a novel framework for modeling temporal events with complex longitudinal dependency that are generated by dependent sources. This framework takes advantage of multidimensional point processes for modeling time of events. The intensity function of the proposed process is a mixture of intensities, and its complexity grows with the complexity of temporal patterns of data. Moreover, it utilizes a hierarchical dependent nonparametric approach to model marks of events. Abstract
Supported gold(III) on poly(ionic liquid) coated on magnetic nanoparticles produced a highly active, stable, recoverable and high loading for the synthesis of propargylamines (A3 coupling reaction) under green conditions. The reaction of aldehyde, secondary amine and alkyne were followed in aqueous media. The catalyst was characterized by TEM, TGA, AAS, FT-IR, XRD and EDX. A broad diversity of aldehydes, secondary amines, and alkynes, and a good to excellent yield of corresponding propargylamines were synthesized using 1.0% Au. Gold nanoparticles supported on poly ionic-liquid magnetic nanoparticles (MNP@PIL@Au) were synthesized by reduction of HAuCl4 with sodium borohydride. The synthesized catalyst was characterized using by AAS, TEM, FT-IR, EDS, TGA and XRD techniques. The performance of the synthesized catalyst was investigated in the reduction of nitroarenes with NaBH4. The reaction was carried out for various nitroarenes in water and mild conditions with high yields. In this study, the flow of a fiber filled viscoelastic matrix through planar contractions is investigated. It was found that by adding fiber to the matrix vortex, the intensity increases. Fiber orientation along "x" and "y" axes was studied too. It was found that fiber orientation could be used for determining the flow regime through the contraction geometry. The rigidity condition of fibers, which needs the trace of the orientation tensor to be unity everywhere in the domain, is correct except near walls and the reentrant corner, which is slightly less than one.
