    Abstract
The secretary problems are of types of the optimal stopping theory problems and are also distinguished as well known problems in applied probability, statistics and decision theory fields. The importance of these kinds of problems defines many new conditions which have been discussed till now. The significance of these types of problems in social issues causes to define many conditions which are vastly discussed. In this paper, a new condition of this problem is considered. These conditions which have been performed using a real time method are based on Multi-Agent Systems techniques. In this paper, after evaluating this method, the resulted answers are examined using Multi-Agent system...

Linear temporal public announcement logic: a new perspective for reasoning about the knowledge of multi-classifiers

    , Article Bulletin of the Iranian Mathematical Society ; Volume 49, Issue 2 , 2023 ; 10186301 (ISSN) Hoseinpour Dehkordi, A ; Alizadeh, M ; Movaghar, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper, a formal transition system model is presented called Linear Temporal Public Announcement Logic (LTPAL) to extract knowledge in a classification process. The model combines Public Announcement Logic (PAL) and Linear Temporal Logic (LTL). For this purpose, first, an epistemic logic model is created to capture information gathered by classifiers in single-framed data input. Next, using LTL, classifiers are considered for data stream inputs. Then, a verification method is proposed for such data streams. Finally, we formalize natural language properties in LTPAL with a video-stream object detection sample. © 2023, The Author(s) under exclusive licence to Iranian Mathematical...

    Abstract
Recent advances in wireless sensor network (WSN) technology are enabling the deployment of large-scale and collaborative sensor networks. WSNs face several challenges such as security, localisation, and energy consumption. To resolve these issues, evolutionary algorithms can be helpful. The core of every evolutionary algorithm is its fitness function. The drawbacks of fitness functions used in the literature will be investigated and some solutions will be suggested. The simulation results clearly show the improvement due to suggested solutions. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2017

    Abstract
Demand forecasting plays an important role as a decision support tool in power system management, especially in smart grid and liberalized power market. In this paper, a demand forecasting method is presented by using support vector regression (SVR). The proposed method is applied to practical hourly data of the Greater Tehran Electricity Distribution Company. The SVR parameters are selected by using a grid optimization process and an investigation on different kernel functions. Moreover, correlation analysis is used to find exogenous variables. Acceptable accuracy of load prediction is shown by comparing the result of SVR model to that of the artificial neural networks and the actual data,...

    2009
    Abstract
The aim of this research was to synthesize barium sulfate nanoparticles using a spinning disk reactor. Barium sulfate was produced by continuously pumping two aqueous solutions of BaCl2 and Na2SO 4, respectively, into the chamber of spinning disk reactor, where a liquid-liquid reaction took place to form BaSO4. The influences of various operating and design parameters such as the initial supersaturation, disk rotation speed, free ion ratio, and the disk diameter on the size of barium sulfate nanoparticles were carefully investigated. By varying the supersaturation and disk rotation speed, a broad range of particle size ranging from micrometer sizes down to nanoparticles smaller than 100 nm...

    Abstract
Novel type of two-impinging-jets loop reactor (TIJLR) has been proposed and tested successfully for the solid-liquid catalytic reactions. The TIJLR is characterized by a high intensity reaction chamber, which is separated by a perforated plate from other parts of the reactor. The perforated plate was used as a filter to keep the catalyst particles within the reaction chamber. A compartment model with two adjustable parameters was considered to describe the pattern of flow within the reaction...

    Abstract
Liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data, density, viscosity, and interfacial tension for the ternary system of toluene-acetic acid-water were measured at 298.15 K and 101.7 kPa. The Othmer-Tobias and the Hand correlations were used to check the reliability of the experimental tie-lines. Moreover, the distribution coefficient and the separation factor were explored. It was found from the experimental results that a maximum separation factor value happens at an acetic acid mass fraction of 0.02 in the organic phase. Density, viscosity, and interfacial tension were correlated using the appropriate correlations such that the predicted results have excellent agreement with the experimental data. The...

    Abstract
Mixed-convection flow of nanofluids inside a vertical rectangular channel partially filled with open-cell metal foam and subject to a constant wall-heat flux was investigated experimentally and numerically. Dynamic light scattering method was used to determine particle size distribution of the nanofluid feedstock. The outlet temperature and pressure drop were measured for different nanofluid flow rates (i.e., Reynolds number values). In the numerical section, a two-dimensional volume-averaged form of the governing equations was used. The velocity and temperature...

Moreover, Forchheimer-Brinkman extended Darcy model was used to model fluid flow in the porous region. In addition, an analytical solution was obtained in the case of negligible Brinkman and Forchheimer number values at the steady-state conditions. The predicted...

    , Article Chemical Engineering and Technology ; Volume 34, Issue 11 , 2011 , Pages 1797-1806 ; 09307516 (ISSN) Dehkordi, A. M ; Savari, C ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The mass-transfer characteristics of a new type of two-impinging-streams reactor (TISR) was studied by means of sodium sulfite solution as the liquid phase and air as the gas phase, in the presence and absence of various types of surface-active agents (SAAs). The influences of anionic, cationic, and nonionic SAAs on the specific interfacial area and overall volumetric mass-transfer coefficient obtained in the TISR were investigated. It was found that the presence of a little amount of the above-mentioned contaminants increases the specific interfacial area and decreases the overall volumetric mass-transfer coefficient. On the basis of the experimental results obtained for various types of...

    Abstract
In this article, mixed-convective heat transfer of nanofluids in a vertical channel partially filled with highly porous medium was studied. In the porous region, the Brinkman-Forchheimer extended Darcy model was used to describe the fluid flow pattern. Different viscous dissipation models were also applied to account for viscous heating. At the porous medium-fluid interface, interfacial coupling conditions for the fluid velocity and temperature were used to derive the analytical solution using a two-parameter perturbation method. The model used for the nanofluids incorporates the effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis. With constant wall temperature, velocity and temperature profiles...

Ferrofluid flow and heat transfer from a sphere in the presence of nonuniform magnetic fields

    , Article Journal of Heat Transfer ; Volume 141, Issue 11 , 2019 ; 00221481 (ISSN) Abbasi, Z ; Molaei Dehkordi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)  2019
    Abstract
In this article, the effects of nonuniform magnetic fields on the hydrodynamics and heat transfer from a heated sphere to its surrounding ferrofluid flow have been investigated. Kelvin body forces originate from the nonuniformity of the applied magnetic field and can generate the vortices behind the sphere leading to a considerable change in the velocity and temperature fields. The applied magnetic field disturbs the thermal boundary layer and decreases heat-transfer resistance, leading to a significant enhancement in the heat-transfer coefficient. Variations of the local and average Nusselt number value (Nu), separation angle, recirculation length, and drag coefficient were considered to...
