In the present study, oblique low-velocity impact (OLVI) on GLARE fiber-metal laminates (FMLs) has been modeled using finite element analysis (FEA) for the first time. Two types of boundary conditions (BCs) can be considered for impactor in the low-velocity impact: constrained (if the impact angle between the impactor and target remains constant during and after the contact) and free (if rotation of the impactor and change in angle with respect to the target is likely) BCs. Clustering has become an increasingly important and highly complicated research area for targeting useful and relevant information in modern application domains such as the World Wide Web. Recent studies have shown that the most commonly used partitioning-based clustering algorithm, the K-means algorithm, is more suitable for large datasets. Network throughput and energy conservation are two conflicting important performance metrics for wireless sensor networks. Since these two objectives are in conflict with each other, it is difficult to achieve them simultaneously. Abstract
Despite the numerous experimental studies, there is a lack of fundamental understanding about how the local and global heterogeneity control the efficiency of polymer flooding. In this work a series of water and polymer injection processes are performed on five-spot glass micromodels which are initially saturated with the crude oil at varying conditions of flow rate, water salinity, polymer type and concentration. Three different pore structures in combine with different layer orientations are considered for designing of five different micromodel patterns. Abstract
This paper presents a novel routing protocol based on the Learning Automata method for large scale Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) codenamed DRLR (distributed reinforcement learning routing). In this method, each node is equipped with learning automata so that it can learn the best path to transmit data toward the sink. The approach proved to be efficient, reliable, and scalable. Abstract
We propose and analyze a circularly polarized slot antenna built on a ferrite substrate which is saturated normal to its plane and metalized on both sides. The antenna is built by etching a circular slot in the top metal layer. The antenna operates in the frequency range where the effective permeability of ferrite is negative. An accurate analytical model is derived for the antenna by solving the integral equation for the electric field on the circular slot. The objective of this article is to study gas temperature estimation in a partially filled rotating cylinder. From the measured temperatures on the shell, an inverse analysis is presented for estimating the gas temperature in an arbitrary cross-section of the aforementioned system. A finite-volume method is employed to solve the direct problem. By minimizing the objective function, a hybrid effective algorithm, which contains a local optimization algorithm, is adopted to estimate the unknown parameter. In this paper, a continuous model for flexural vibration of beams with a vertical edge crack including the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia is presented. The crack is assumed to be an open-edge crack perpendicular to the neutral plane. A quasi-linear displacement filed is suggested for the beam, and the strain and stress fields are calculated. The governing equation of motion for the beam has been obtained using Hamilton principle. In this study, biodegradation of corn starch/glycerol/Na-MMT nanocomposites by soil burial tests were carried out for up to 6 months. Films were prepared by casting method according to central composite design and response surface methodology was applied for analysis of the results. The effects of formulation on the water solubility, contact angle and tensile strength of starch films were investigated. Increasing in Na-MMT content decreased biodegradability; while presence of glycerol, increased it. Abstract
In this research, response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to study the effects of Na-Montmorillonite (Na-MMT) and glycerol on some functional properties of corn starch films. Films were prepared by casting method according to central composite design (CCD). Originally image processing technique was used in order to estimate transparency of the films. It was found that Na-MMT absorbed UV light from 216 to 266. nm. No antimicrobial activities were observed against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This paper presents an algorithm for synchronizing two different chaotic systems by using a combination of Unscented Kalman-Bucy Filter (UKBF) and sliding mode controller. It is assumed that the drive chaotic system is perturbed by white noise and shows stochastic chaotic behavior. In addition the output of the system does not contain the whole state variables of the system, and it is also affected by some independent white noise. By combining the UKBF and the sliding mode control, a synchronizing control law is proposed.
