Abstract
Liu and Xu (1998) and Ellingham, Nam and Voss (2002) independently showed that every k-edge-connected simple graph G has a spanning tree T such that for each vertex v, dT(v) ≤ ⌈ d(v)/k ⌉ + 2. In this paper we show that every k-edge-connected graph G has a spanning tree T such that for each vertex v, dT(v)≤ ⌈ d(v)-2/k ⌉ + 2; also if G has k edge-disjoint spanning trees, then T can be found such that for each vertex v, dT(v) ≤ ⌈ d(v)-1/k ⌉ + 1. Abstract
Let G be a graph and let f be a positive integer-valued function on V(G). In this paper, we show that if for all S⊆V(G), ω(G∖S)<∑v∈S(f(v)−2)+2+ω(G[S]), then G has a spanning tree T containing an arbitrary given matching such that for each vertex v, dT(v)≤f(v), where ω(G∖S) denotes the number of components of G∖S and ω(G[S]) denotes the number of components of the induced subgraph G[S] with the vertex set S. This is an improvement of several results. Next, we prove that if for all S⊆V(G), ω(G∖S)≤∑v∈S(f(v)−1)+1, then G admits a spanning closed walk passing through the edges of an arbitrary given matching meeting each vertex v at most f(v) times. Abstract
In this paper, we show that every (3k−3)-edge-connected graph G, under a certain degree condition, can be edge-decomposed into k factors G1,…,Gk such that for each vertex v∈V(Gi), |dGi(v)−dG(v)/k|<1, where 1≤i≤k. As an application, we deduce that every 6-edge-connected graph G can be edge-decomposed into three factors G1, G2, and G3 such that for each vertex v∈V(Gi) with 1≤i≤3, |dGi(v)−dG(v)/3|<1, unless G has exactly one vertex z with dG(z)⁄≡30. Abstract
In 2006 Barát and Thomassen conjectured that every planar 4-edge-connected 4-regular simple graph of size divisible by three admits a claw-decomposition. Later, Lai (2007) disproved this conjecture by a family of planar graphs with edge-connectivity 4 which the smallest one contains 24 vertices. In this note, we first give a smaller counterexample having only 18 vertices and next construct a family of planar 4-connected essentially 6-edge-connected 4-regular simple graphs of size divisible by three with no claw-decompositions. Let G be a graph. A P3-factor of graph G is a subgraph of G such that each component is isomorphic to P3. In 1985 Akiyama and Kano conjectured that every 3-connected 3-regular graph of order divisible by 3 has a P3-factor. In this thesis we conjecture that every 3-connected 4-regular graph of order divisible by 3 has a P3-factor and also show that this conjecture concludes the previous one. This study investigates whether and how the pursuit of certain commercial business practices such as market orientation and market disruptiveness capability improves both the economic performance and social performance of social enterprises. Based on the empirical data collected from 164 UK social enterprises, our results show that market orientation improves social performance and economic performance simultaneously, whereas market disruptiveness capability improves only the economic performance, not the social performance, of social enterprises. In this paper, the characteristics of a hybrid regenerative electromagnetic (EM) damper are first determined and experimentally examined. The main idea is to have two modes of operation for the EM damper, namely passive energy harvesting and semi-active modes. In the passive mode, the vibrational energy of an underlying structure is harvested and stored in a rechargeable battery. We propose the first method that realizes the Laplace mechanism exactly (i.e., a Laplace noise is added to the data) that requires only a finite amount of communication (whereas the original Laplace mechanism requires the transmission of a real number) while guaranteeing privacy against the server and database. In this work, the thermodynamic behavior of aqueous solutions containing the solutes NaCl, glucose, and/or urea is investigated. These substances are vital components for living bodies and further they are main components of blood serum. Osmotic coefficients were determined by cryoscopic measurements in single-solute and multi-solute aqueous solutions containing salts (NaCl, KCl, CaCl2), glucose, and/or urea. Coupling of side chain dynamics over long distances is an important component of allostery. Methionine side chains show the largest intrinsic flexibility among methyl-containing residues but the actual degree of conformational averaging depends on the proximity and mobility of neighboring residues. The 13C NMR chemical shifts of the methyl groups of methionine residues located at long distances in the same protein show a similar scaling with respect to the values predicted from the static X-ray structure by quantum methods.
