Evaluation of the Behavior of Gotvand Rockfill Dam During Construction and Initial Impoundment Using Instrumentation Data and Numerical Modeling

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Harif Bilondi, Zakie (Author) ; Jafarzadeh, Fardin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Stability control of Rockfill dams during construction, first impoundment and during operation is of great importance. Increase in pore water pressure during construction and reservoir filling of rockfill dams with clay core can initiate or help the progress of the hydraulic fracture. Considering initiation of high excessive pore pressures while construction as an important causes of dam failure, precise estimation and analysis of It's variation will be necessary and will increase safety factor of dam stability.Horizontal and especially vertical displacements happening during Dam construction and reservoir filling and arching phenomenon in clay core while construction are the other factors...

Simultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination of Lisinopril and Arginine Based on Charge-Transfer Complex Formation with 1,2-Naphthoquinone-4-Sulfonate and Colorimetric Determination of Chromium (III) Ion by Aggregation of Silver Nanoparticle Capped with Gallic Acid

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Harif Bilondi, Marzieh (Author) ; Hormozi Nezhad, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Multivariate calibration methods are used for simultaneous determination of two or more different species in the mixture of species. If the responses of species are similar, multivariate calibration has the ability of modeling the relation between responses and species concentration, too. Artificial neural networks, using as more applicable methods of nonlinear multivariate calibrations, when the relation is nonlinear, In the first part, lisinopril and arginine are simultaneously determined by artificial neural network. Separate calibration curves are obtained for lisinopril and arginine. Then spectra of reaction product of 38 different mixtures of two species with...

Numerical Investigation of The Electrocoalescence of Moving Microdroplets using Direct and Alternating Electric Fields

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Behnam Bilondi, Amir Ali (Author) ; Mohammadi, Ali Asghar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Droplet coalescence in microfluidic systems plays a crucial role in a wide range of engineering applications. The investigation of droplet coalescence using electric fields is of particular importance due to its high controllability, fast response, and weak dependence on channel geometry and flow rates. In this study, a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of the electro-coalescence of moving deionized water droplets in mineral oil under the influence of direct and alternating electric fields was performed. In addition, dimensional analysis based on the Buckingham π theorem and phenomenological modeling were conducted to achieve a better understanding of the...

    Abstract
Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third most aggressive tumor globally, and it can be categorized into two forms: colitis-mediated CRC and sporadic CRC. The therapeutic approaches for CRC encompass surgical intervention, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. However, even with the implementation of these techniques, the 5-year survival rate for metastatic CRC remains at a mere 12–14%. In the realm of CRC treatment, gene therapy has emerged as a novel therapeutic approach. Among the crucial molecular pathways that govern tumorigenesis, STAT3 plays a significant role. This pathway is subject to regulation by cytokines and growth factors. Once translocated into the nucleus, STAT3 influences the...
