Abstract
At the 16th British Combinatorial Conference (1997), Cameron introduced a new concept called 2-simultaneous edge-coloring and conjectured that every bipartite graphic sequence, with all degrees at least 2, has a 2-simultaneous edge-colorable realization. In fact, this conjecture is a reformulation of a conjecture of Keedwell (Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Algorithms and Applications, Proceedings of Third China-USA International Conference, Beijing, June 1-5, 1993, World Scientific Publ. Co., Singapore, 1994, pp. 111-124) on the existence of critical partial latin squares (CPLS) of a given type. In this paper, using some classical results about nowhere-zero 4-flows and oriented cycle double...

Abstract
A series of herbal extract incorporated into poly(lactic acid) (PLA) composite nanofibrous scaffolds were successfully prepared by using electrospinning technique. Equisetum arvense extract (EE) and nanohydroxyapatite (nHA) in different quantities were loaded into PLA solution to fabricate composite nanofibrous webs under various electrospinning conditions. Uniform nanofibers were obtained with an average diameter of 157 ± 47 nm in the case of those containing the herbal extract. Characterization of the webs was carried out by means of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and...

Abstract
Designers and manufacturers of cryptographic devices are always worried about the vulnerability of their implementations in the presence of power analysis attacks. This article can be categorized into two parts. In the first part, two parameters are proposed to improve the accuracy of the latest hypothetical power consumption model, so-called toggle-count model, which is used in power analysis attacks. Comparison between our proposed model and the toggle-count model demonstrates a great advance, i.e., 16%, in the similarity of hypothetical power values to the corresponding values obtained by an analog simulation. It is supposed that the attacker would be able to build such an accurate power...

Abstract
Large Language Models (LLMs) have emerged as the dominant paradigm in Natural Language Processing owing to their remarkable performance across various target tasks. However, naively fine-tuning them for specific downstream tasks often requires updating a vast number of parameters, resulting in high computational costs and overfitting when training data is limited. In this paper, we propose a novel approach, called Stochastic Tuning, that addresses these challenges by selectively updating a small subset of parameters in each step of the tuning process. Our approach is characterized by its customization of updates based on task-specific partial gradients with respect to stochastic...

Abstract
In this study, an accurate analytical solution for the nonlinear free vibration of a conservative oscillator with inertia and static type cubic nonlinearities is derived. This solution has been obtained using homotopy analysis method (HAM). Then, homotopy Pade technique is applied to accelerate the convergence rate of the series solution. This study shows that the HAM leads to an accurate analytical solution, which is valid for a wide range of considered system parameters. Unlike the other analytical methods, HAM can control and adjust the convergence region and rate of the approximation series solution. The excellent accuracy of the current results is demonstrated by comparing with the...

Abstract
Partial discharges are well known as a source for insulation degradation in power transformers. A hybrid transformer model is introduced to simulate the transformer winding transient response. Transformer structural data is used to determine the hybrid model parameters. Calculations of the hybrid transient model parameters are based on the parameters of the lumped parameter equivalent transformer model and electromagnetic rules. Modern computation techniques and optimizations are employed beside this model for PD location using the multi conductor transmission line model and also to analyze its propagation aimed at achieving (i) more reliable simulation results (ii) less computational time...

Abstract
Power transformer inner insulation system is a very critical component. Its degradation may pose apparatus to fail while in service. On the other hand, experimental experiences prove that partial discharges are a major source of insulation failure in power transformers. If the deterioration of the insulation system caused by PD activity can be detected at an early stage, preventive maintenance measures may be taken. Because of the complex structure of the transformer, accurate PD location is difficult and is one of the challenges power utilities are faced with. This problem comes to be vital in open access systems. In this paper a theory for locating partial discharge and its propagation...

Abstract
This paper studies the energy-limited performance of multi-relay networks. Taking the properties of the power amplifiers (PAs) into account, we derive closed-form expressions for the optimal power allocation, the outage probability and the throughput in the cases with a sum consumed energy constraint. Moreover, we analyze the diversity and the multiplexing gains of the PA-aware systems. Finally, we investigate the performance of large-scale multi-relay networks and develop efficient multi-relay systems with low cooperation overhead. The numerical and the analytical results show that the inefficiency of the PAs affects the outage probability and the throughput of the multi-relay systems...

Abstract
Accurate prediction of static and dynamic response of nano structures is one of the important interests of scientists in the last decade. Nano bearing as an important part of nano machines has been extensively implemented in recognizing and disassembling cancerous cells and building molecular support structures for strengthening bones. For this reason, Molecular Dynamic Method and some experimental methods are implemented in this area. As nano ball bearing is one of the most important components of nano machines, a large number of studies are concentrated to analyze it statically and dynamically. In this paper, a Fullerene is simulated by a spherical super element whose stress, deformation...

Abstract
Characterization and simulation of carbon nanotubereinforced composites at large scale have been a concern of researchers in the past decade. This is due to the computational complication of considering many embedded carbon nanotubes (CNTs). However a simple meshing of organized CNT distribution in the matrix can ease this obstacle. In this study, a finite element approach is employed to investigate the elastodynamic behavior of a wavy CNTreinforced composite structure. A three dimensional structure with up to 6400 uniformly distributed wavy CNTs is embedded in a polymer matrix. Each wavy nanotube is represented by a set of beam elements. The effect of nanotube waviness and volume fraction...

Abstract
Biological cell injection is a sensitive and important work which is implemented in injection of foreign materials into individual cells. Microinjection is significantly developed in the field of drug discovery and genetics so predicting the behavior of cell in microinjection is remarkably important because a tiny excessive manipulation force can destroy the tissue of the biological cell. There are a few analytical methods available to simulate the cell injection, hence the numerical methods such as FEM are suitable to be used to model the microinjection. In this study, a new spherical super element is presented to model the biological cells and deformation of a specific cell under an...

Abstract
This study describes the synthesis of TiO2/WO3 composite systems with a varying concentration of WO3 by a glucose-template assisted method and demonstrates their round-the-clock photoactivity performance towards the degradation of methanol (MeOH) under illumination and dark conditions. XRD results indicated a biphasic anatase-rutile nature of TiO2, with tunable concentrations with respect to the WO3 loading. WO3 incorporation extended the light absorption of the system towards visible light, increasing the observed photoactivity. The obtained results were further validated using photo-electrochemical investigations such as photocurrent measurements and the impedance response of the systems....

Abstract
This study demonstrates the glucose-template assisted synthesis of hydrogen-treated Pt: TiO2/WO3 composites, and their round-the-clock photoactivity towards methanol (MeOH) degradation under light illumination and in dark. XRD indicated increasing rutile fraction in TiO2 as a function of template removal, WO3 crystallinity and H2 treatment process. The presence of oxygen vacancies in WO3 was confirmed by XPS. Lower recombination rate and higher surface area were observed in the optimized H2-Pt-G:TiO2/WO3 catalyst. The presence of oxygen vacancies and optical enhancements due to the synergistic interactions of the multi-system (TiO2, WO3 and Pt) extended the visible light absorption of the...

Abstract
In this paper a method for selecting optimal wavelet is introduced, which is implemented for evaluating electrical measured partial discharges on a 66 kV/25 MVA fully interleaved winding of a power transformer. Applying wavelet transform to a signal produces a wavelet detail coefficient distribution throughout the time-scale, which depends on the wavelet chosen. This method is based on the capability of the chosen wavelet for generating coefficients with maximal values. The basic idea of this method is described and applications to partial discharge studies are explored. The paper demonstrates that the wavelet based de-noising method proposed in the paper can be employed in extracting the PD...

Abstract
The classical continuum theory not only underestimates the stiffness of microscale structures such as microbeams but is also unable to capture the size dependency, a phenomenon observed in these structures. Hence, the non-classical continuum theories such as the strain gradient elasticity have been developed. In this paper, a Timoshenko beam finite element is developed based on the strain gradient theory and employed to evaluate the mechanical behavior of microbeams used in microelectromechanical systems. The new beam element is a comprehensive beam element that recovers the formulations of strain gradient Euler–Bernoulli beam element, modified couple stress (another non-classical theory)...
A size-dependent yield criterion
, Article International Journal of Engineering Science ; Vol. 74, issue , Jan , 2014 , p. 151-161 ; Rahaeifard, M ; Ahmadian, M. T ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
In this paper, a size-dependent non-classical yield criterion is introduced on the basis of the modified couple stress theory in order to capture the size-dependency of the micro-scale structure yielding loads where the attempts of the classical yield criteria such as the von-Mises have been in vain. In order to develop the new yield criterion, the deviatoric part of the micro-scale structure strain energy density, including both classical and non-classical parts, is equated to the deviatoric strain energy density of a macro-size tensile-test sample at the yielding point. For bending of microbeams and torsion of microbars, the size-dependent yielding moments have been determined based on the...

Abstract
Since the classical continuum theory is neither able to evaluate the accurate stiffness nor able to justify the size-dependency of micro-scale structures, the non-classical continuum theories such as the modified couple stress theory have been developed. In this paper, a new comprehensive Timoshenko beam element has been developed on the basis of the modified couple stress theory. The shape functions of the new element are derived by solving the governing equations of modified couple stress Timoshenko beams. Subsequently, the mass and stiffness matrices are developed using energy approach and Hamilton's principle. The formulations of the modified couple stress Euler-Bernoulli beam element...

Abstract
In this article effects of sleepers defect on rail vehicle vibration have been investigated. Two parallel rails of the track have been modeled as Euler-Bernoulli beams on elastic points as rail pads. Also sleepers have been modeled as visco-elastic Euler-Bernoulli beams. It is assumed that, some sleepers under the rail track have been fractured and modeled by two beams. The wheelset has 5 DOF which are longitudinal, vertical and lateral movements plus roll and axial rotations. To determine normal contact force between wheel and rail, relative position of wheel and rail has been determined at each instant. Using the coordinate of each wheel points in rail coordinate system, the penetration of...

Abstract
The classical continuum theory is neither able to accurately model the mechanical behavior of micro/nano-scale structures nor capable of justifying the size-dependent behavior observed in these structures; so the non-classical continuum theories such as the strain gradient theory have been emerged and developed. In order to enable the finite element method (FEM) to more accurately deal with the problems in micro/nano-scale structures, a size-dependent Euler-Bernoulli beam element is developed based on the strain gradient theory. Compared to the classical Euler-Bernoulli beam element, the nodal displacement vector of the new Euler-Bernoulli beam element has an additional component, i.e. the...
