Reactive Crystallization of Calcium Carbonate Nanoparticles in Impinging Jets Reactors

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Habibi, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Molaei, Asghar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to their highly efficient micromixing rates, confined impinging jet reactors can be beneficial in treating mixing-sensitive processes such as precipitations or crystallizations at high supersaturation. Successful scale-up of these reactors requires a decent insight of geometric design and operating conditions of these systems. This paper deals with the reactive crystallization of calcium carbonate nano-particles in two-impinging jets reactors. The influence of jet velocity (Jet Re number), nozzle diameter, and chamber ratio on the PSD and mean particle size of the product are investigated. In addition, the effect of supersaturation ratio, ion ratio and quenching ratio on the nucleation,...

Design and Implementation of a Very Low Current High Voltage DC Power Supply

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Habibi, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Kaboli, Shahriyar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This research aims to propose an optimal structure for a high-voltage DC power supply capable of measuring very low currents at its output. The power supply not only provides suitable voltage for desired load operation but also informs the system about the load’s proper functioning. Conventional power supplies typically have an open-circuit output voltage between 3 and 7 kVDC and a maximum output current ranging from several hundred microamps to several hundred milliamps, depending on the load’s physical features. The load current is linearly proportional to the pressure within the chamber within a certain pressure range, serving as an indicator of the chamber's pressure condition. At very...

Analyzing the Data of the Initial coin Offering Projects on the Blockchain Platform and Presenting a Machine Learning Algorithm to Predict Its Success

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hasanzadeh, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Habibi, Jafar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The Initial Coin Offering (ICO) market, as a novel fundraising method on the blockchain technology platform, despite its considerable potential, is associated with high risk and severe Information Asymmetry, which makes informed decision-making difficult for investors. This research aims to reduce this uncertainty by designing and evaluating a machine learning model to predict the success of ICO projects. In this study, "success" was defined as an objective and measurable criterion: the project's token being "listed on at least one Top-Tier Exchange." To build the model, a comprehensive dataset of approximately 5,500 projects was collected via the Dropstab website's API and by text analysis...

Hydrodynamic and Chemical Modeling of Lake Urmia with FVCOM: Including Salt Precipitation and Dissolution in the Lakebed

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Habibi Komeni, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Safaie, Ammar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, unfavorable climatic changes and intensified human activities have led to significant alterations in aquatic ecosystems. One of the most critical examples is the drastic decline in the water level of Lake Urmia, located in northwestern Iran, which faces the imminent risk of complete desiccation. In this context, hydrodynamic modeling and analysis of aquatic systems can play a crucial role in strategic decision-making for the sustainable management of water resources. Due to its hypersaline nature, Lake Urmia is strongly influenced by salt precipitation and dissolution processes, which directly affect both bathymetry and salinity concentrations. Accurately representing these...

Evaluating Capacity Value of Wind Power Plants Considering Storage Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Habibi, Mina (Author) ; Fotuhi Firuzabad, Mahmud (Supervisor) ; Safdarian, Amir (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent decades, the trend towards renewable energy sources has increased dramatically. Rising fossil fuel prices and concerns about the effects of greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emissions have drawn the attention of many energy experts to the use of renewable energy sources such as wind farms as an alternative to fossil fuel energy sources. Therefore, the issue of reliability related to these sources and whether such units can be considered as a source of generation has gained more importance. Due to the random nature of wind power, the share of these power plants in providing system adequacy is less than their nominal value. Therefore, determining the capacity value of wind power...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kazemi Foroushani, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Habibi, Moslem (Supervisor) ; Fazli, Mohammad Amin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, with the popularity of online shopping, many business owners are interested in launching online stores. Recording opinions and using the opinions of customers and buyers of products provides the possibility of listening to the opinions of customers in the design and improvement of products. On the other hand, other users and those who intend to buy a specific product, after paying attention to the features and aspects of the product they want, refer to the section of customer views and opinions. The user also reads these comments among thousands of different sentences and words written with different opinions and suggests; It gets confusing and many users won't be able to make the...

Controlling best response dynamics for network games

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering ; March , 2018 ; 23274697 (ISSN) Fazli, M ; Maazallahi, A ; Habibi, J ; Habibi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    IEEE Computer Society  2018
    Abstract
Controlling networked dynamical systems is a complex endeavor, specifically keeping in mind the fact that in many scenarios the actors that are engaged in the dynamism behave selfishly and therefore only take into account their own individual utility, a setting that has been widely studied in the field of game theory. One way that we can control the system dynamics is through the use of control parameters that are at our disposal, but finding optimal values for these parameters is a complex and time consuming task. In this paper we use the relation between network structural properties and control parameters to create a mathematical model that uses learning methods to find optimal values...

Experimental and Numerical Study of Spray Combustion under Hot-diluted Conditions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azimi, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Mardani, Amir (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, combustion of liquid fuel spray under the condition of hot and diluted oxidizer, has been investigated. To this end, a novel type laboratory-scale test rig was designed to study the physics governing the MILD-Spray combustion conditions with an applied approach. The underlined test rig eliminates the operational problems of its predecessor test stands and is used for a heavier fuel with much more complex chemical composition (kerosene). The test section is axially symmetrical, in which the fuel is injected by a pressure-swirl atomizer in the direction of hot and diluted co-flowing air. With the use of the aforesaid test rig, the effect of variables such as oxygen...

Duality in a generalized model for translation invariant systems [electronic resource]

, Article Fuzzy Sets and Systems ; 1996, Volume 83, Issue 3, Pages 347–352 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In a previous paper we introduced a generalized model for translation invariant (TI) operators. In this model we considered the space, φ of all maps from an abelian group G to ω U {-∞}, called LG-fuzzy sets, where ω is a complete lattice-ordered group; and we defined TI operators on this space. Also, in that paper, we proved strong reconstruction theorem to show the consistency of this model. This theorem states that for an order-preserving TI operator Y one can explicitly compute Y(A), for any A, from a specific subset of φ called the base of Y. In this paper duality is considered in the same general framework, and in this regard, continuous TI operators are studied. This kind of operators...

Reconstruction in a generalized model for translation invariant systems [electronic resource]

, Article Fuzzy Sets and Systems ; 1996, Volume 83, Issue 1, Pages 51–55 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
We consider translation invariant (TI) operators on Φ, the set of maps from an abelian group G to Ω ∪ {−∞} , called LG-fuzzy sets, where 0 is a complete lattice ordered group. By defining Minkowski and morphological operations on Φ and considering order preserving operators, we prove a reconstruction theorem. This theorem, which is called the Strong Reconstruction Theorem (SRT), is similar to the Convolution Theorem in the theory of linear and shift invariant systems and states that for an order preserving TI operator Y one can explicitly compute Y ( A ), for any A , from a specific subset of Φ called the base of Y . The introduced framework is a general model for the theory of translation...

Residuated semigroups and morphological aspects of translation invariant systems [electronic resource]

, Article 1997, Volume 90, Issue 1, Pages 69–81 ; Fuzzy Sets and Systems Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The main goal of this paper is to verify classical properties of morphological operators within the general model of translation invariant (TI) systems. In this model, TI operators are defined on the space of LG-fuzzy sets Φ i.e. Φ = {A: G → Ω ∪ {− ∞}} in which G is an abelian group and Ω is a complete lattice ordered group. A TI operator Y is an operator on Φ which is invariant under translation on G and Ω as groups. We consider the generalization of Minkowski addition (D on Φ and we emphasize that (Φ,⊛) is an involutive residuated topological monoid. We verify all properties of traditional (set-theoretic) morphological operators as well as classical representations (Matheron, 1967) for...

Forcing structures and cliques in uniquely vertex colorable graphs [electronic resource]

, Article SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics ; 2001, Volume 14, Issue 4, Pages 433-445 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Let G be a simple undirected uniquely vertex k-colorable graph, or a k-UCG for short. M. Truszczyński [Some results on uniquely colorable graphs, in Finite and Infinite Sets, North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1984, pp. 733--748] introduced $e^{^{*}}(G)=|V(G)|(k-1)-{k \choose 2}$ as the minimum number of edges for a k-UCG and S. J. Xu [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B, 50 (1990), pp. 319--320] conjectured that any minimal k-UCG contains a Kk as a subgraph. In this paper, first we introduce a technique called forcing. Then by applying this technique in conjunction with a feedback structure we construct a k-UCG with clique number k-t, for each $t \geq 1$ and each k, when k is large enough. This also...

Graph homomorphisms and nodal domains [electronic resource]

, Article Linear Algebra and its Applications ; 2006, Volume 418, Issue 1, Pages 44–52 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper, we derive some necessary spectral conditions for the existence of graph homomorphisms in which we also consider some parameters related to the corresponding eigenspaces such as nodal domains. In this approach, we consider the combinatorial Laplacian and co-Laplacian as well as the adjacency matrix. Also, we present some applications in graph decompositions where we prove a general version of Fisher’s inequality for G-designs

On defining numbers of circular complete graphs

    , Article Discrete Mathematics ; Volume 307, Issue 2, 28 January 2007, Pages 173–180 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Let d(σ)d(σ) stand for the defining number of the colouring σσ. In this paper we consider View the MathML sourcedmin=minγd(γ) and View the MathML sourcedmax=maxγd(γ) for the onto χχ-colourings γγ of the circular complete graph Kn,dKn,d. In this regard we obtain a lower bound for dmin(Kn,d)dmin(Kn,d) and we also prove that this parameter is asymptotically equal to χ-1χ-1. Also, we show that when χ⩾4χ⩾4 and s≠0s≠0 then dmax(Kχd-s,d)=χ+2s-3dmax(Kχd-s,d)=χ+2s-3, and, moreover, we prove an inequality relating this parameter to the circular chromatic number for any graph G

    Abstract
Passive radars use illuminators of opportunity to detect target and measure its parameters. The usual processing routine consists of direct path interference and clutter removal and computation of cross ambiguity function (CAF) to estimate ampIitude-range-Doppler surface. Main parameters affecting this procedure are direct path interference and clutter, receiver thermal noise and near large targets. This paper presents an investigation on effect of each parameter and tries to estimate processing gain of each Block. A comparison between different adaptive interference removal methods also presented

    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
Herein, we demonstrated a facile method for the fabrication of magnetic and superhydrophobic polyurethane sponge with water contact angle of 159° as an adsorbent for cleanup the marine oil spill pollution. For this aim, a polyurethane sponge was coated with carbon black (CB), hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN)@Fe3O4, and acrylic resin and then characterized by different techniques. Owing to the chemical and thermal stability of h-BN and CB, the modified sponge was stable under corrosive conditions (pH = 1–14 and salt solutions) and at different temperatures (−12 °C–105 °C). In addition to common oils and organic solvents, we also used the real spilled oils containing monoaromatics and...

    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
Herein, a series of superhydrophobic thin polyacrylic resin-coated carbon black (CB)/hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN)@Fe3O4/cellulose composite papers with good flexibility, low density (~0.67 g/cm3), high electrical conductivity (~0.065 S/cm), good thermal conductivity (0.462 W.m−1. The CB-BN@Fe3O4 distribution in cellulose matrix provided high electrical conductivity in the in-plane and thickness directions. The electrical conductivity in both in-plane and thickness directions increased by increasing the number of vacuum-assisted dip-coating cycles. Moreover, these...
