In this paper, a virtualized ball-end milling model is presented in Unity game engine environment, in which the machining process is simulated by proposing a new geometric approach. The model calculates and illustrates cutter-workpiece engagement area and cutting forces in a real-time manner. To calculate cutter-workpiece engagement, the workpiece surface is considered a set of nodes. Abstract
The mechanistic force model is one of the most common methods used to predict cutting forces in milling processes. In this model, the cutting forces are considered a function of cutting geometry and the material properties of the tool and workpiece, generally known as cutting coefficients. These coefficients are commonly identified by performing special calibration tests and are applied to predict cutting forces for other conditions. A systematic comparison of single and binary metal oxides TiO2, TiO2-Ga2O3 and TiO2-Er2O3 thin film gas sensors with nanocrystalline and mesoporous microstructure, prepared by a new particulate sol-gel route, was conducted. The gas sensitivity was increased by introduction of Ga2O3 and Er2O3 into TiO2 film via two mechanisms, firstly through the inhibition of anatase-to-rutile transformation, since the anatase phase accommodates larger amounts of adsorbed oxygen, and secondly through the retardation of grain growth, since the higher surface area provides more active sites for gas molecule adsorption. In this research, the influence of anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), pH, substrate finishing, and annealing temperature on the surface morphology and hardness of the electroless nickel phosphorus (ENi-P) coatings were studied. Taguchi's experimental design method was used. Parameters selected in three levels and L9 from orthogonal robust array design were employed. This paper presents a high performance Direct Torque Control (DTC) theme for the induction motor using Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC). To improve the dynamic behavior of motor, Active Learning Method (ALM) is implemented on the DTC. The ALM uses its own modeling technique called the ink drop spread (IDS) method. Abstract
High specific surface area (SSA) nanocrystalline powders and dip-coated TiO2 films have been prepared by particulate sol-gel route aided with polymeric fugitive agents (PFA), namely trehalose dihydrate (THD), polyethylene glycol (PEG6000) and hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC). Powders obtained without PFA, heat-treated at 160 °C show a SSA of 181 m2/g, a value that could be increased up to 271 and 223 m2/g for samples heat-treated at 300 °C when PEG6000 and HPC were used, respectively, whereas SSA of 201 m2/g were achieved by using THD and subsequence heat-treating at 500 °C. This study investigated the different aspects of macro/micro-galvanic corrosion behavior of plasma electrolytic oxidation coating (PEO) applied on a dissimilar joint. In this regard, AA5052 and AZ31 were joined by friction stir welding. Then, the dissimilar joints were simultaneously coated with different electrolyte conductivities and current densities through PEO process. Abstract
The inhibition effects of 3.5 bis (2-pyridil) 4-amino 1,2,4 triazole (NBTA) and 1-10 phenantrolin (PHEN), on corrosion of mild steel in acid solutions, (sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid) were studied. The Tafel polarisation and ac impedance techniques were employed. Results obtained reveal that both compounds are relatively good inhibitors. The inhibition efficiencies of NBTA are higher in hydrochloric acid than in sulphuric acid. This has been attributed to the synergistic effect of chloride ions present in hydrochloric acid. The mechanism of inhibition of PHEN is believed to be owing to the formation of insoluble chelates between the organic molecules and atom/ion on the metal surface....

The nonlinear characteristic of an laser diode, LD, impacts on the performance of optical wireless systems using OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing). First, the influence of the nonlinear characteristic on bit-error performance is analyzed using a high power LD (LML-808.7B-XX). Next, the paper proposes a pre-distorter to compensate the nonlinearities. In This paper detailed frequency-domain system identification method is applied to identify steering dynamics of a naval coastal patrol vessel using a data analysis software tool, called CIFER. Advanced features such as Chirp-Z transform and composite windowing techniques are used to extract high quality frequency responses. An accurate, linear and robust transfer function models are derived for yaw and roll dynamics of the vessel.
