Abstract
The bulk of the worldwide annual commercial production of ethylene is based on thermal cracking of petroleum hydrocarbons with steam. In this research, the effect of coil outlet temperature on the reactor yield has been studied. In order to investigate a reliable mathematical correlation, several data points were obtained by adjusting coil outlet temperature in a real plant. In order to investigate best coil outlet temperature, an objective function was represented. Based on the obtained mathematical correlation and the assumed objective function, it was found that best coil outlet temperature for investigating maximum income is 1,128 K

Abstract
A SEnsor Network with Mobile Agents (SENMA) is an architecture proposed for large scale sensor networks in which the access point moves above the network and gathers information from a limited number of nodes. However, the performance of such system is limited by estimation errors and packet errors due to collision. In this paper, we first derive the equations of distortion in a general scenario and use this model to obtain four best node positions in order to achieve min-max estimation error in a square. In addition, an opportunistic MAC is proposed that considers both collision effects and estimation error based on Channel State Information (CSI). As the simulation results show the...

Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is to develop light beam method to measurement of interfacial area in a rectangular gas-liquid bubble column. Total interfacial area can be determined in bubble column filled by transparent liquid by light transmission method. According to pervious researches, the fraction of parallel light is function of interfacial area and optical path length that these two parameters imply Transmission Number or N T. The drop diameters were measured in the range of 2.2 to 5 mm, and in this range, the specific area is found to depend only upon the light transmission. Three different systems with various liquid phases have been used in this work. It had been proved that...

Abstract
Efficient operation of urban water systems necessitates accurate water demand forecasting. We present daily, weekly, and monthly water demand forecasting using dynamic artificial neural network (DAN2), focused time-delay neural network (FTDNN), and K-nearest neighbor (KNN) models for the city of Tehran. The daily model investigates whether partitioning weekdays into weekends and non-weekends can improve forecast results; it did not. The weekly model yielded good results by using the summation of the daily forecast values into their corresponding weeks. The monthly results showed that partitioning the year into high and low seasons can improve forecast accuracy. All three models offer very...

Abstract
Flooding algorithm is one of the most significant algorithms used in sensor networks. Although simple, this algorithm causes a large amount of energy and bandwidth to be wasted. The most important application of flooding is RREQ flooding in initial step of most routing algorithms. Although simple, this algorithm causes a large amount of energy and bandwidth to be wasted. Most previous efficient flooding algorithms use location information which is impossible for simple node in sensor network. Some others are not suitable for RREQ flooding due to eliminating redundant retransmissions. We present a modified flooding that simultaneously decreases energy consumption as well as network delay....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Goudarzi, Maziar (Supervisor)
Abstract
With the emergence of 5G networks, response time is becoming increasingly more important. 5G networks facilitate usage of Mobile Edge Computing. MEC provides computing capabilities at the edges of cellular networks. Since the computational capability in mobile devices is limited, running high performance applications using external resources is a way to overcome this limitation. Workload offloading in MEC is an approach that provides additional computation capability for users to meet the desired response time. In this study, we presented a Mixed Integer Non-Linear Programing model for offloading different workloads on a heterogeneous set of MEC servers to minimize the SLA violations. We...

Abstract
Most of the energy efficient routing algorithms proposed for sensor networks are reactive routing algorithms. By definition, reactive algorithms are those in which routes are constructed whenever there is data transmission. In such algorithms, to transmit data packets from a certain transmitter to the corresponding receiver, efficient route will be constructed using RREQ delivery. This delivery is performed via flooding and modified flooding algorithms. One of the most important criteria of such flooding algorithm is not to miss the best final route during RREQ delivery. Most of major algorithms ignored this fact and instead tried to minimize energy consumption during flooding algorithm. But...

Abstract
In a SEnsor Network with Mobile Agents (SENMA) is an architecture proposed for large scale sensor networks. In sensor networks, a fraction of the packets generated by only part of the sensors is sufficient to provide a good estimation of all network information. SENMA uses this inherent redundancy. However, the performance of such system is limited by estimation errors and packet errors due to collision. Estimation error is a major problem in applications such as habitat monitoring in which information is a function of node position. In this paper, we first derive the equations of distortion in a general scenario and use this model to compare the estimation error for regular networks. Then...

Abstract
In this paper a modified neighbor aware medium-access control protocol is proposed designed for wireless sensor networks. Wireless sensor networks are generally comprised of battery powered nodes. These nodes are densely deployed in an ad-hoc structure. The main objective for sensor networks is low power consumption while latency is less important. This leads different MAC layer design for wireless sensor networks compared to conventional ad hoc protocols. In this paper we propose a neighbor aware medium access control to reduce power consumption. This protocol is derived from Modified Distributed mediation device (MDMD) protocol and uses useful properties of this protocol while improves the...

Abstract
The chaotic dynamics of roto-translatory motion of a triaxial Kelvin-type gyrostat satellite under gravity gradient perturbations is considered. The Hamiltonian approach is used for modelling of the coupled spin-orbit equations of motion. The complex Hamiltonian of the system is reduced via the extended Deprit canonical transformation using the Serret- Andoyer variables. Therefore, this reduction leads to the derivation of the perturbation form of the Hamiltonian that can be used in the Ricci curvature criterion based on the Riemannian manifold geometry for the analysis of chaos phenomenon. The results obtained from Ricci method as well as the values from the Lyapunov exponent demonstrate...

Abstract
IT Governance provides a business focus to enable alignment between business and IT objectives at high level COBIT framework and focused on IT operational levels, ITIL standard. COBIT and ITIL are not mutually exclusive and can be combined to provide a powerful IT governance, control and best-practice framework in IT service management. So ITIL business-IT strategic alignment perspective could be improved using COBIT framework. Focusing on COBIT processes which support (primarily and secondarily) strategic alignment, in this paper, first, we map COBIT 4.1 to ITIL v3 to identify how ITIL cover COBIT control objectives. Furthermore, based on control objectives which are not completely...

Abstract
Quasi-periodic and chaotic behavior, along with the control of chaos for a Gyrostat satellite (GS), is investigated in this work. The quaternion-based dynamical model of the GS is first derived, and then the influences of the reaction wheels in the GS structure, under the gravity gradient perturbation that causes a route to chaos through quasi-periodicity mechanism, is investigated. For the suppression of chaos in the system, a chaos control system with the quaternion feedback is designed for the GS based on the extension of the Ott-Grebogi-Yorke (OGY) method using the linearization of the Poincaré map. In the extended OGY controller, the Poincaré map is estimated using the Least Square...

Abstract
This article presents a study on the capability of the time domain OMA method, NExT-ERA, to identify closely spaced structural dynamic modes. A survey in the literature reveals that few experimental studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of the NExT-ERA methodology in case of closely spaced modes specifically. In this paper we present the formulation for NExT-ERA. This formulation is then implemented in an algorithm and a code, developed in house to identify the modal parameters of different systems using their generated time history data. Some numerical models are firstly investigated to validate the code. Two different case studies involving a plate with closely spaced modes and...

Abstract
Accurate system identification (SI) is essential for flight controller design of unmanned aerial vehicles and microaerial vehicles (MAVs). SI can be performed either in frequency or time domain using flight test data. As flight testing is often costly and may even lead to catastrophic events before some flight stability analysis is at hand, a low-cost 5 degree-of-freedom free motion platform (FMP) is designed and used for initial identification of MAVs via wind tunnel testing. A typical MAV is constructed as a test case and equipped with inertial sensors for testing and validation purposes. The proposed FMP allows for both rotational as well as translational motions that in turn provide for...

Abstract
Vivid banding pattern of the chromosome image is a crucial part for diagnosis in karyotype medical test. Furthermore, thriving computer aided segmentation and classification depend on the initial image quality. In this paper, we propose an adaptive and iterative histogram matching algorithm for chromosome contrast enhancement especially in banding patterns which is one of the most important information laid in chromosome image. Objective histogram, with which the initial image needs to be matched, is created based on processes on the initial image histogram. Calculation of statistical moments of image histogram and determination of parameters in each step of iteration based on these moments...

Abstract
Vivid banding patterns in medical images of chromosomes are a vital feature for karyotyping and chromosome classification. The chromosome image quality may be degraded by many phenomenon such as staining, sample defectness and imaging conditions. Thus, an image enhancement processing algorithm is needed before classification of chromosomes. In this paper, we propose an adaptive and iterative histogram matching (AIHM) algorithm for chromosome contrast enhancement especially in banding patterns. The reference histogram, with which the initial image needs to be matched, is created based on some processes on the initial image histogram. Usage of raw information in the histogram of initial image...

Abstract
Most of the publications regarding the maxim covering location problem (MCLP) address the case where the decision is to be made for one period. In this paper, we deal with a rather untouched version of MCLP which is called dynamic MCLP (DMCLP). In order to solve this problem, a simulated annealing (SA) has been presented. The proposed solution algorithm is capable of solving problems with up to 2500 demand nodes and 200 potential facilities with a fair amount of exactness. Our experiments showed that the proposed approach finds solutions with errors less than one percent
