    CFD modeling of CO2 absorption in membrane contactors using aqueous solutions of monoethanolamine-ionic liquids

    Abstract
    The effects of addition of an ionic liquid to pure water as a physical absorbent and monoethanolamine (MEA) solutions as a chemical absorbent on carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption through hollow fiber membrane contactors were investigated using a 2D axisymmetric model. A numerical simulation was developed based on finite element method using computational fluid dynamics techniques. Liquid phase flowed in the tube side and gas mixture containing CO2 passed in the shell side of the membrane contactor in co-current and countercurrent modes.     Abstract
    In the present work, a simple, green, rapid, and catalyst-free procedure for the synthesis of benzamide derivatives by ring opening of azlactones with diamines such as ethylene diamine and 1,3-propylenediamine is described. The present method offers several advantages such as short reaction times, easy work-up, and mild reaction conditions in the absence of catalyst and any toxic solvent and material. In addition, the structure obtained by X-ray crystallography was compared with the theoretical results obtained by density functional theory using the B3LYP functional and cc-pVDZ basis sets

    In this study, the effect of hydrophobicity of environmentally responsive surface-modified silica nanoparticles on the stability and surface activity of the nanoparticles is examined. To this end, n-propyl, n-hexyl, or n-octyl chains and methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) chains at various quantities were coated covalently on the surface of silica nanoparticles to regulate the hydrophobicity of the responsive nanoparticles.     Problems related to the three-dimensional (3D) dynamics of the deploying flexible arms subjected to base angular motions are studied with simulated tip payloads and actual deployment trajectories. To facilitate the solution, an equivalent dynamical system is developed by introducing the inertial reaction forces on the arm, while the equations of motion are derived in the non-Newtonian reference frame attached to the arm.     The loads induced on the spacecraft orbiting the Earth by the deploying elastic arm are investigated. The coupled equations of motion of the arm with the vehicle orbital mechanics are used to describe the 3D dynamic behavior of the flexible-appendage and the related disturbing loads induced on the spacecraft. To this end, an equivalent dynamical system is derived for the arm by applying an attached Non-Newtonian Reference Frame which is subjected to the orbital motion and geocentric pointing maneuver of the spacecraft.     The dynamics of the flexible robot arm subjected to tip mass during an actual deployment is studied. The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the real deployment are considered in the simulation. A new real axial velocity profile is developed.     Correlation-intractability is a random-oracle-like property of hash functions, so one can expect that constructions that are secure in random-oracle-model, remain secure when implemented using a correlation-intractable hash function.     The fate of the immobilized actinides of the spent nuclear fuel in mineral-like matrices can be predicted by studying the behavior of uranium isotopes as representatives of the actinides in natural analogues.
