Abstract
In this paper, a parallel algorithm for data clustering is presented on a multi-computer with star topology. This algorithm is fast and requires a small amount of memory per processing element, which makes it even suitable for SIMD implementation. The proposed parallel algorithm completes in O(K+S 2-T 2) steps for a clustering problem of N data patterns with M features per pattern and K clusters, where N.M = S!, K.M = T!, and M=R!, on a s-star interconnection network. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005

In this paper, the advantages of numerical simulation to improve the process of copper electroforming are demonstrated. In this regard, the finite element model of copper electroforming for a rotating cone electrode was first prepared and then, the effect of the key parameters, such as applied current density, solution conductivity, electrode spacing, and anode height, on the uniformity of the thickness was investigated. In this paper, we present a scan-chain-based multiple error recovery technique for triple modular redundancy (TMR) systems (SMERTMR). The proposed technique reuses scan-chain flip-flops fabricated for testability purposes to detect and correct faulty modules in the presence of single or multiple transient faults. This paper proposes an efficient concurrent error detection method using control flow checking for embedded processors. The proposed method is based on the co-operation of two hardware modules: 1) an on-chip hardware component to detect branch instructions and generate signatures for the running program, and 2) an external watchdog processor to compare runtime signatures and branch addresses with the information extracted offline. We demonstrate that Markov processes play a fundamental role in probing rough surfaces and characterizing their topography. The surface topography obtained by a probe, as in the atomic force microscopy (AFM) technique, is based on the probe-surface interactions. When the size of the probe tip is comparable with the height of the surface fluctuation, the surface image can be aberrated from its origin. Scratch Pad Memory (SPM) is an important part of most modern embedded processors. The use of embedded processors in safety-critical applications implies including fault tolerance in the design of SPM. This paper proposes a method, called FTSPM, which integrates a multi-priority mapping algorithm with a hybrid SPM structure. Abstract
In this paper, we propose a very fast analytical approach to measure the overall circuit Soft Error Rate (SER) and to identify the most vulnerable gates and flip-flops. In the proposed approach, we first compute the error propagation probability from an error site to primary outputs as well as system bistables. Then, we perform a multi-cycle error propagation analysis in the sequential circuit. The results show that the proposed approach is four to five orders of magnitude faster than the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation-based fault injection approach with 92% accuracy. Water flooding is widely applied for pressure maintenance or increasing the oil recovery of reservoirs. The heterogeneity and wettability of formation rocks strongly affect the oil recovery efficiency in carbonate reservoirs. During seawater injection in carbonate formations, the interactions between potential seawater ions and the carbonate rock at a high temperature can alter the wettability to a more water-wet condition. Mixing has become a challenge in micro-fluidic systems because of the low Reynolds number in micro-channels. The method which is implemented in this paper is to use freely-swimming bacteria to enhance the mixing process. Accordingly, the Serratia marcescens bacteria were used for this matter. Higher-order effects in three-wave resonant interaction of a surface wave, with a pair of interfacial waves in a two-layer fluid, are studied theoretically. Following an initial rapid growth, the interfacial waves approach a steady state of constant amplitude. An explicit solution is presented for transition to the ultimate state of the interaction. In this paper, we present a very fast and accurate technique to estimate the soft error rate of digital circuits in the presence of Multiple Event Transients (METs). In the proposed technique, called Multiple Event Probability Propagation (MEPP), a four-value logic and probability set are used to accurately propagate the effects of multiple erroneous values (transients) due to METs to the outputs and obtain soft error rate.
