    Numerical study on NOx reduction in a large-scale heavy fuel oil-fired boiler using suitable burner adjustments

    Abstract
    A numerical framework was carefully developed to simulate the combustion of heavy-fuel-oil (HFO) in a large-scale boiler. The present numerical solutions were compared with the measured data of a laboratory benchmark test and on-site operational data of the chosen HFO-fired boiler. Next, the developed framework was used to perform sensitivity analyses aiming to reduce the NO emission from the HFO-fired boiler without any adverse effect on its combustion performance. Practically, this study focused on re-adjustments of 24 working burners, which could control combustion in the HFO-fired boiler.     Abstract
    We show that three distant parties, A, B, and C, having no prior entanglement can establish a shared GHZ state by mediating two particles which remain separable from each other and from all the other parties throughout the process. The success probability is 1/7. We prove this in a general framework for systematic distribution of entangled states between two and more parties with separable states in d dimensions. The proposed method may facilitate the construction of multinode quantum networks and many other processes which use multipartite entangled states

    In this thesis the oil reservoir simulation is carried out by using a combination of fast Multi-scale finite volume method and Streamline method considering gravity effects. In this simulation, the governing equations for incompressible fluid flow in porous media are solved using the IMPES (implicit pressure- explicit saturation) viewpoint. Multi- scale method is rapid (equivalent on coarse-scale methods) and accurate (equivalent on fine-scale methods) in solving the pressure field.     Abstract
    Nylon 6 and 66 were toughened with EPDM-g-MA and SEBS-g-MA and steadystate rheological behaviour of rubbers, nylons and their blends and mechanical properties of nylons and their rubber-toughened blends were investigated. The EPDM maleic grafting preparation was performed In the framework of this study where SEBS-g-MA was obtained from a commercial source. The results showed the ultratoughened SEBS-g-MA blends, whereas EPDM blends under the same blending conditions did not show a significant improvement in toughness.     In this thesis, combustion of liquid fuel spray under the condition of hot and diluted oxidizer, has been investigated. To this end, a novel type laboratory-scale test rig was designed to study the physics governing the MILD-Spray combustion conditions with an applied approach. The underlined test rig eliminates the operational problems of its predecessor test stands and is used for a heavier fuel with much more complex chemical composition (kerosene).
