Design and Implementation of a Passive Ku band phase Shifter in 0.18µm CMOS Process

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Besharati Rad, Amir (Author) ; Medi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this project, a “Ku” band (16.3GHz-17.3GHz) 6-bit phase shifter for realizing a phase array T/R module is designed, implemented and measured in CMOS 0.18μm technology. Design specifications for this block were: RMS phase error should be less than 2.5 degree in bandwidth, better than 12dB loss and better than 16dBm input 1dB compression point. High-pass/low-pass filter structure is used to implement this phase shifter. In order to decrease phase shift error in process and temperature corners, a new structure for one of bits was introduced. This structure is less sensitive to process and temperature corners and furthermore it conSumes less area in layout, but it has more loss variation...

Design of High Efficiency & Low Noise Integrated DC-DC Converter

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Besharati Rad, Amir (Author) ; Medi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In all electronic systems, the power management unit, as one of the main parts of the system, has the task of providing the necessary voltage for each sub-block of the system. Also, different blocks of electronic systems require different levels of supply voltage. In addition, the supply voltage level of the systems has increased due to the increase in the possibility of power transmission, and at the same time, there is a possibility of a drop in the supply voltage in battery-powered systems. Therefore, a DC-DC voltage converter that has a wide range of input and output voltage can increase the flexibility of the system. The design of DC-DC voltage converters whose output noise is at the...

A wide-input-/output-voltage-range buck converter with adaptive light-load efficiency improvement and seamless mode transition

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics ; Volume 39, Issue 2 , 2024 , Pages 2200-2212 ; 08858993 (ISSN) Besharati Rad, A ; Kargaran, M ; Meghdadi, M ; Medi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    IEEE  2024
    Abstract
A wide-input/output-voltage-range buck converter with adaptive light-load efficiency improvement and seamless mode transition for high-voltage applications is presented in this article. The proposed design uses a load prediction structure to eliminate dc current sensor and to ensure high efficiency in the 0.02∼2-A load range. The pulsewidth modulation (PWM) mode has been used for near-full load. Since efficiency degradation at light loads occurs at different levels regarding the input and output voltage, a novel dynamic frequency pulsewidth modulation (DFPWM) with adaptive efficiency improvement mechanism is proposed, which activates efficiency improvement based on the input and output...

An ultra-low-noise buck converter for noise-sensitive applications

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics ; Volume 39, Issue 2 , 2024 , Pages 2169-2179 ; 08858993 (ISSN) Besharati Rad, A ; Kargaran, M ; Moosavi, S. M. R ; Meghdadi, M ; Medi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    IEEE  2024
    Abstract
An ultra-low-noise buck converter for noise-sensitive applications is presented, which utilizes a novel pseudo average current-mode control (ACMC) with an adaptive ramp generator to decrease the baseband noise. Also, in order to suppress electromagnetic interference (EMI) and high-frequency spurs, spread spectrum and secondary filter are used, respectively. The proposed ACMC buck converter suppresses the switching frequency perturbation effect on the output voltage, and as a result in the spread spectrum condition, only a small amount of noise is added to the output voltage in the baseband frequency. For the spread spectrum with an external clock, a phase-locked loop is used, which...

    Abstract
The coloring of hypergraph and its special case Steiner triple systems, STS(v), is studied extensively. But the defining set of the coloring of hypergraph even its special case STS(v), has not been explored yet. We study minimum defining set and the largest minimal defining set for 3-coloring of STS(v). We determined minimum defining set and the largest minimal defining set, for all non-isomorphic STS(v), v £ 15. Also we have found the defining number for all Steiner triple systems of order v, and some lower bounds for the size of the largest minimal defining set for all Steiner triple systems of order v, for each admissible v. © 2021 Taru Publications

    , Article Journal of Fluids and Structures ; Volume 22, Issue 4 , 2006 , Pages 529-540 ; 08899746 (ISSN) Ziaei-Rad, S ; Ziaei-Rad, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2006
    Abstract
An efficient algorithm for the design optimization of the compressible fluid flow problem through a flexible structure is presented. The methodology has three essential parts: first the behavior of compressible flow in a supersonic diffuser was studied numerically in quasi-one-dimensional form using a flux splitting method. Second, a fully coupled sequential iterative procedure was used to solve the steady state aeroelastic problem of a flexible wall diffuser. Finally, a robust Genetic Algorithm was implemented and used to calculate the optimum shape of the flexible wall diffuser for a prescribed pressure distribution. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Molecular dynamics investigation of β-SiC behavior under three-axial tensile loading [electronic resource]

    , Article Journal of Computational and Theoretical Nanoscience ; November 2011, Volume 8, Number 11, PP. 2187-2192 Mortazavi, B ; Simchi, A. (Abdolreza) ; Besharati-Givi, M.K ; Rajabpour, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were used to study the mechanical behaviour of β-SiC at nano-scale under tensile loading. Effects of loading rate and tensile temperature on the mechanical properties and failure were studied. Modified embedded-atom method (MEAM) potential and Berendsen thermostat were utilized for modelling. Periodic boundary conditions were employed and the behaviour of material was analyzed under three-axial loading condition at which the stress–strain relation was acceptably size independent. It is shown that with increasing the loading rate from 5 m/s to 70 m/s, the failure strain increases without a remarkable change in the stress–strain relationship. The MD...

On the chromatic number of Latin square graphs

    , Article Discrete Mathematics ; Volume 339, Issue 11 , 2016 , Pages 2613-2619 ; 0012365X (ISSN) Besharati, N ; Goddyn, L ; Mahmoodian, E. S ; Mortezaeefar, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The chromatic number of a Latin square is the least number of partial transversals which cover its cells. This is just the chromatic number of its associated Latin square graph. Although Latin square graphs have been widely studied as strongly regular graphs, their chromatic numbers appear to be unexplored. We determine the chromatic number of a circulant Latin square, and find bounds for some other classes of Latin squares. With a computer, we find the chromatic number for all main classes of Latin squares of order at most eight
