Abstract
A wide-input/output-voltage-range buck converter with adaptive light-load efficiency improvement and seamless mode transition for high-voltage applications is presented in this article. The proposed design uses a load prediction structure to eliminate dc current sensor and to ensure high efficiency in the 0.02∼2-A load range. The pulsewidth modulation (PWM) mode has been used for near-full load. In this project, a “Ku” band (16.3GHz-17.3GHz) 6-bit phase shifter for realizing a phase array T/R module is designed, implemented and measured in CMOS 0.18μm technology. Design specifications for this block were: RMS phase error should be less than 2.5 degree in bandwidth, better than 12dB loss and better than 16dBm input 1dB compression point. An ultra-low-noise buck converter for noise-sensitive applications is presented, which utilizes a novel pseudo average current-mode control (ACMC) with an adaptive ramp generator to decrease the baseband noise. Also, in order to suppress electromagnetic interference (EMI) and high-frequency spurs, spread spectrum and secondary filter are used, respectively. Effects of loading rate and tensile temperature on the mechanical properties and failure were studied. Modified embedded-atom method (MEAM) potential and Berendsen thermostat were utilized for modelling. Periodic boundary conditions were employed and the behaviour of material was analyzed under three-axial loading condition at which the stress–strain relation was acceptably size independent. In this study, a new antibacklash gear mechanism design comprising three pinions and a rack is introduced. This mechanism offers several advantages compared to conventional antibacklash mechanisms, such as lower transmission error as well as lower required preload. Nonlinear dynamic modeling of this mechanism is developed to acquire insight into its dynamic behavior. An ultra-fast step response synchronous buck converter has been developed for battery-powered and hand-held electronic applications. The proposed converter has an impressive settling time of only two clock periods and a 1.8A output current capability. This fast step response makes the proposed converter an ideal choice for dynamic voltage scaling technique in the mentioned applications. In this paper, we list four different interpretations of synchronizability, study their profile in different network structures and give evidence that they do not coincide, in general. By changing the network topological properties, their behavior is tracked and compared with each other. It is shown that their trend goes in different directions in heterogeneous networks such as scale-free ones, whereas in homogeneous ones such as random networks they go hand in hand, as networks' structural parameters change. Synchronizability of dynamical networks can be defined as the ease by which the network synchronizes its activity. We propose a method for enhancing the synchronizability of dynamical networks by efficient rewirings. The method is based on the eigenvectors corresponding to the second smallest and the largest eigenvalue of the Laplacian matrix and a modified version of the simulated annealing approach is used to perform the optimization task. In this paper, the authors analyze conditions under which they can be certain on the intensity addition of a given device, such as tapped-delay lines, used in digital incoherent all-optical communication systems. A general expression for phase-induced intensity noise that is applicable to all types of semiconductor lasers is derived by defining an optical self-SNR expression that can be used to analyze and measure phase-induced intensity noise. Abstract
An efficient algorithm for the design optimization of the compressible fluid flow problem through a flexible structure is presented. The methodology has three essential parts: first the behavior of compressible flow in a supersonic diffuser was studied numerically in quasi-one-dimensional form using a flux splitting method. Second, a fully coupled sequential iterative procedure was used to solve the steady state aeroelastic problem of a flexible wall diffuser. Finally, a robust Genetic Algorithm was implemented and used to calculate the optimum shape of the flexible wall diffuser for a prescribed pressure distribution. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd.
