Abstract
In this paper, the effect of increasing the number of layers on improving the thermal performance of microchannel heat sinks is studied. In this way, both numerical and analytical methods are utilized. The analytical method is based on the porous medium assumption. Here, the modified Darcy equation and the energy balance equations are used. The method has led to an analytical expression presenting the average dimensionless temperature field in the multilayer microchannel heat sink. Abstract
This article proposes a multi-objective goal programming based approach with two objectives of maximizing the reliability and minimizing the placement cost of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) for full observability in power systems. The weighted sum goal programming formulation incorporates the reliability of individual PMUs and finds a placement to resolve the conflicting objectives of minimum number of PMUs cost-wise and maximum level of system-wide reliability. This multi-objective problem is formulated as a nonlinear goal programming model in which weights are associated with the objectives. In the present research a numerical investigation has been made to evaluate the results of analytical approach in the analysis of micro channel heat sink (MCHS) which is increasingly used in the cooling of high heat dissipating electronic devices. In this regard the effects of geometrical and flow parameters affecting the absolute thermal resistance of MCHS have been analyzed. The effect of using different fluids in the value of the thermal resistance is considered as well. One of the significant methods to design airplanes with high capabilities is taking advantage of variable shape structures to improve flight efficiency. In present article the effect of a variable shape wing on an ultra light flyer has been considered. Applying flexible variable shape control surfaces (wing and elevator) structures is a way to increase efficiency and maneuverability of the planes, which is recently under research. In this paper, modeling of the flight of an unmanned ultra light plane is discussed. The modeling is done based on a real ultra light plane presented recently. Abstract
Mammography is an x-ray-based imaging method to examine breast abnormalities. Since low-energy photons are used in mammography, doses to different organs would depend strongly on the phantom posture and anatomy. Until now, a few studies have been performed on doses delivered to different organs during mammography. However, in none of them, the correct posture of the patient has been considered. In the present study, the effect of accurate patient positioning, on doses to organs in the chest region were investigated through Monte Carlo simulations. In this paper a new approach to dynamic optimization of a rough terrain rover is introduced. Since rover wheels traction has a significant role in rover mobility, optimization is based on the minimization of traction at rover wheel-ground interfaces. The method of optimization chosen is Genetic Algorithm (GA) which is a directed random search technique along with the usual optimization based on directional derivatives. This study reports synthesis and characterization of polymeric [MoO2(Salen)] complexes that combine MoO2(acac)2 and polymeric ligands bearing N2O2 coordination sites, abbreviated herein as [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salen)}]n (6), [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salophen)}]n (7), and [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salpn)}]n (8). The oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with hydrogen peroxide in good yield and high selectivity has been catalyzed very effectively by a series of Schiff base salen-type iron complexes in a monophasic medium (CH 2Cl2/CH3OH) at ambient temperature. Abstract
The Mn-hydrazone Schiff base has been prepared, characterized, and encapsulated into NaY to prepare a new heterogeneous catalyst. Elemental analysis, UV-Vis, infrared spectroscopic analysis, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, thermal analysis, small angle X-ray diffraction, and N2 sorption indicate the presence of Mn-hydrazone Schiff base within the nanocavity pores of zeolite-Y. The catalysts showed excellent catalytic efficiency in epoxidation with various olefinic compounds including cyclooctene, using tert-BuOOH as oxidant. The monoanionic bidentate Schiff base, N-(phenolyl)-benzaldimine (HL), has been employed to synthesize a new vanadium(IV) complex of general composition [VO(L)2] (where L = O, N donor of Schiff base). An hydrazone Schiff base-iron(III) complex using salicylidene benzoyl hydrazine (L) as ligand has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H and 13C NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
