Abstract
The preparation and characterization are presented of a new catalytic material comprising Mg–Al layered double hydroxide and intercalated manganese(III) 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-benzoate)porphyrinacetate. Characterization was realized via various techniques. The prepared composite exhibited excellent catalytic activity in the selective epoxidation of various olefins with tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen monopersulfate as an oxidant under mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, the catalytic system could be reused nine times without significant reduction in conversion percentage and any special care or additional treatment of the catalyst. © 2018 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

Abstract
The multistep release of therapeutic agents in the theranostic particulate systems has remained as a challenge in smart drug delivery. In this study, superparamagnetic nanoparticles of Fe3O4 were coated with a blend of F127/F68 grades of pluronic in order to adjust the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and consequently engineering of the release temperature. Pluronic as a biocompatible thermo-sensitive polymer is frequently used as a self-emulsifying drug delivery system. Magnetite nanoparticles with double layer coating of oleic acid and pluronic F127 have been reported as an on-demand smart carrier for hydrophobic drugs. LCST was examined using differential scanning calorimetry...

Abstract
A manganese(III) complex, [Mn(phox)2(CH3OH) 2]ClO4 (phox = 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)oxazoline), was immobilized on silica-coated magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles through the amino propyl linkage using a grafting process in dichloromethane. The resulting Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2@Mn(III) nanoparticles are used as efficient and recyclable catalysts for selective oxidation of thiols to disulfides using urea-hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant. The nanocatalyst was recycled several times. Leaching and recycling experiments revealed that the nanocatalyst can be recovered, recycled, and reused more than five times, without the loss of catalytic activity and magnetic properties. The recycling of the nanocatalyst in six...

Abstract
This study reports synthesis and characterization of polymeric [MoO2(Salen)] complexes that combine MoO2(acac)2 and polymeric ligands bearing N2O2 coordination sites, abbreviated herein as [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salen)}]n (6), [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salophen)}]n (7), and [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salpn)}]n (8). The epoxidation of alkenes using tert-butyl hydroperoxide and oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides by urea hydrogen peroxide were enhanced with excellent selectivity under the catalytic influence of these coordination polymers. No relevant difference in activity was found due to change in the diamine in the Schiffs base ligands. The stability of polymeric catalysts was assessed by recycling a sample...

Abstract
The oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with hydrogen peroxide in good yield and high selectivity has been catalyzed very effectively by a series of Schiff base salen-type iron complexes in a monophasic medium (CH 2Cl2/CH3OH) at ambient temperature. The results of the present study show that the reaction rate strongly depends on both catalyst steric effects and steric and electronic properties of sulfides. In the system, the electronic spectral studies are applied to explain the formation of a reactive (salen) Fe=O intermediate

Abstract
Inert gold become catalytically active when dispersed in the form of nanoparticles. Isolated gold nanoparticles have demonstrated high catalytic activity for both oxidation and reduction reactions. In order to obtain high catalytic activity, gold nanoparticles are generally dispersed on support materials, among which oxides are commonly used. However, a substantial decrease in activity and selectivity of the immobilized catalysts is frequently observed due to the heterogeneous nature of these support materials in reaction media. In the course of our study on the metal-based catalysis for synthesis of organic compounds, we herein report that rod-shaped Au nanoparticles in aqua solution...
