Abstract
We study critical properties of the continuous Abelian sandpile model with anisotropies in toppling rules that produce ordered patterns on it. Also, we consider the continuous directed sandpile model perturbed by a weak quenched randomness, study critical behavior of the model using perturbative conformal field theory, and show that the model has a random fixed point. © 2009 The American Physical Society

Abstract
We investigate a new version of sandpile model which is very similar to Abelian Sandpile Model (ASM), but the height variables are continuous ones. With the toppling rule we define in our model, we show that the model can be mapped to ASM, so the general properties of the two models are identical. Yet the new model allows us to investigate some problems such as the effect of very small mass on the height probabilities, different boundary conditions

We insert some asymmetries into the continuous Abelian sandpile models, such as directedness and ellipticity. Abstract
We check the universality properties of the two-dimensional Abelian sandpile model by computing some of its properties on the honeycomb lattice. Exact expressions for unit-height correlation functions in the presence of boundaries and for different boundary conditions are derived. Also, we study the statistics of the boundaries of avalanche waves by using the theory of SLE and suggest that these curves are conformally invariant and described by SLE 2

Abstract
The theory of self-organized criticality is originally introduced by Bak, Tang and Wiesenfeld as a general mechanism that can explain the behaviour of complex systems which naturally organize themselves into a critical state. They defined the sandpile model as an example of slowly driven and dissipative complex system to explain the concept of self-organized criticality. From the definition of the model, extensive work has been done on this model. Thanks to the Abelian property of the model, many statistical results have been derived exactly. Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of a horizontal packed bed bioreactor, named Biopack, to treat high strength wastewater, such as bakers yeast wastewater. The Biopack system (RBCP) is a modified rotating biological contactor and the system was applied for secondary treatment. The RBCP system produced high treatment efficiencies, COD removal was 94.9% when COD was 472 mg/l and surface organic loading = 0.187 kg COD/m2 per day and surface hydraulic loading = 6 l/m2 per day. Variations of surface hydraulic loading from 6 to 11.9 l/m2 per day produced a decrease in COD removal efficiency from 94.9 to 58.6%. Despite the large number of papers published on the subject of graph labeling, there are few particular techniques to be used by researchers to gracefully label graphs. In this paper, first a new approach based on the mathematical programming technique is presented to model the graceful labeling problem. In recent years, nanodiamond (ND) has been used as reinforcement in polymeric nanocomposites in order to improve mechanical properties, thermal conductivity, etc. The surface of nanodiamond has several functional groups which make it appropriate adsorbent. In this study, nanodiamond was modified with dodecylamine corrosion inhibitor and was utilized (1wt %) in epoxy based nanocomposite. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was used to confirm the surface modification of Nanodiamond. We study numerically the statistics of curves which form the boundaries of toppling wave clusters in the deterministic Bak, Tang and Wiesenfeld sandpile model and stochastic Manna model on a square lattice. We consider the Abelian version of each model. Abstract
In this paper, LM pectin production from commercial apple pectin by using acid, alkali and ammonia methods in the presence of ethanol was studied. Also, the effect of different parameters such as, temperature, time, acid, alkali and ammonia treatment in LM pectin production were evaluated. In all the experiments, low temperature showed a better influence from a recovery, purity and low de-polymerization viewpoint. Optimum conditions in the acid method reached at pH = 2, t = 17 hrs and T = 30°C, in the alkaline method reached at pH = 11, t = 3 hrs and T = 5°C and in the ammonia method reached at 2 N ammonia and T = 5°C, were determined. © Sharif University of Technology

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been performed to investigate the electronic structure and photocatalytic activity of a hybrid Ag3PO4(111)/g-C3N4 structure. Due to Ag(d) and O(p) states forming the upper part of the valence band and C(p), N(p), and Ag(s) the lower part of the conduction band, the band gap of the hybrid material is reduced from 2.75 eV for Ag3PO4(111) and 3.13 eV for monolayer of g-C3N4 to about 2.52 eV, enhancing the photocatalytic activity of the Ag3PO4(111) surface and g-C3N4 sheet in the visible region. In this study a more precise formulation of electrical capacitance for a cylindrical capacitive sensor is reported. By using different theoretical models such as Coulomb law, Gauss law and Laplace equation the electrical capacitance is calculated.
