    Abstract
We study holographic entanglement entropy for certain logarithmic conformal field theories by making use of their gravity descriptions. The corresponding gravity descriptions are provided by higher-derivative gravity at critical points where the equations of motion degenerate leading to a log gravity. When a central charge of the dual theory is zero, the entanglement entropy has a new divergent term whose coefficient is given by the "new anomaly" of the logarithmic conformal field theory

Holographic entanglement entropy for 4D conformal gravity

    Abstract
Using the proposal for holographic entanglement entropy in higher derivative gravities, we compute holographic entanglement entropy for the conformal gravity in four dimensions which turns out to be finite. However, if one subtracts the contribution of the four dimensional Gauss-Bonnet term, the corresponding entanglement entropy has a divergent term and indeed restricted to an Einstein solution of the conformal gravity, the resultant entanglement entropy is exactly the same as that in the Einstein gravity. We will also make a comment on the first law of the entanglement thermodynamics for the conformal gravity in four dimensions

    Abstract
We study type IIA superstring theory on a PP-wave background with 24 supercharges. This model can exactly be solved up to quadratic fermionic action and then quantized. The open string in this PP-wave background is also studied. We observe that the theory has supersymmetric Dp-branes for p=2,4,6,8. © 2003 Elsevier Science B.V

Holographic renormalization of new massive gravity

    , Article Physical Review D - Particles, Fields, Gravitation and Cosmology ; November , 2010 , Volume 82, Issue 10 ; 15507998 (ISSN) Alishahiha, M ; Naseh, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
We study holographic renormalization for three-dimensional new massive gravity. By studying the general falloff conditions for the metric allowed by the model at infinity, we show that at the critical point where the central charges of the dual conformal field theory (CFT) are zero, it contains a leading logarithmic behavior. In the context of AdS/CFT correspondence it can be identified as a source for an irrelevant operator in the dual CFT. The presence of the logarithmic falloff may be interpreted as the fact that the dual CFT would be a logarithmic conformal field theory

Central charge for 2D gravity on AdS 2 and AdS 2/CFT 1 correspondence

    Abstract
We study 2D Maxwell-dilaton gravity on AdS 2. We distinguish two distinctive cases depending on whether the AdS 2 solution can be lifted to an AdS 3 geometry. In both cases, in order to get a consistent boundary condition we need to work with a twisted energy momentum tensor which has non-zero central charge. With this central charge and the explicit form of the twisted Virasoro generators we compute the entropy of the system using the Cardy formula. The entropy is found to be the same as that obtained from gravity calculations for a specific value of the level of the U(1) current. The agreement is an indication of AdS 2/CFT 1 correspondence

On the multi trace superpotential and corresponding matrix model

    Abstract
We study N = 1 supersymmetric U(N) gauge theory coupled to an adjoint scalar superfield with a cubic superpotential containing a multi trace term. We show that the field theory results can be reproduced from a matrix model whose potential is given in terms of a linearized potential obtained from the gauge theory superpotential by adding some auxiliary non-dynamical field. Once we get the effective action from this matrix model we could integrate out the auxiliary field getting the correct field theory results

Circular semiclassical string solutions on confining AdS/CFT backgrounds

    Abstract
We study multiwrapped circular string pulsating in the radial direction of AdS black hole. We compute the energy of this string as a function of a large quantum number n. One then could associate it with energy and a quantum number of states in the dual finite temperature N = 4 SYM theory as well as three-dimensional pure gauge theory. We observe that the n dependence of the energy has a universal form. We have also considered pulsating string in the background of the near-extremal D4-brane solution. Circular pulsating membrane in M-theory on AdS7 × S4 has also been studied. © SISSA/ISAS 2002

    Abstract
We study four dimensional N = 2 SO/SP supersymmetric gauge theory on R 3 × S1 deformed by a tree level superpotential. We will show that the exact superpotential can be obtained by making use of the Lax matrix of the corresponding integrable model which is the periodic Toda lattice. The connection between vacua of SO(2N) and SO(2kN-2k + 2) can also be seen in this framework. Similar analysis can also be applied for SO(2N + 1) and SP(2N). © SISSA/ISAS 2003

Semiclassical string solutions on deformed NS5-brane backgrounds and new plane wave

    , Article International Journal of Modern Physics A ; Volume 19, Issue 16 , 2004 , Pages 2755-2770 ; 0217751X (ISSN) Alishahiha, M ; Mosaffa, A. E ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
We study different Penrose limits of supergravity solution of NS5-brane in the presence of RR field. Although in the case of NS5-brane we get a four-dimensional plane wave, in the case with RR field we will get two different plane waves; a four-dimensional and a three-dimensional one. These plane wave solutions are the backgrounds that a particular string solution feels at one-loop approximation. Using the one-loop correction one can identify a particular subsector of LST/deformed LST which is dual to type II string theories on these plane waves

    Born-Infeld gravity in three dimensions

    Abstract
In this paper we explore different aspects of three dimensional Born-Infeld as well as Born-Infeld-Chern-Simons gravity. We show that the models have anti-de Sitter and anti-de Sitter wave vacuum solutions. Moreover, we observe that although Born-Infeld-Chern-Simons gravity admits a logarithmic solution, Born-Infeld gravity does not, though it has a limiting logarithmic solution as we approach the critical point

On AdS/CFT of galilean conformal field theories

    Abstract
We study a new contraction of a d+1 dimensional relativistic conformal algebra where n+1 directions remain unchanged. For n = 0,1 the resultant algebras admit infinite dimensional extension containing one and two copies of Virasoro algebra, respectively. For 1$">n>1 the obtained algebra is finite dimensional containing an so(2,n+1) subalgebra. The gravity dual is provided by taking a Newton-Cartan like limit of the Einstein's equations of AdS space which singles out an AdS n+2 spacetime. The infinite dimensional extension of n = 0,1 cases may be understood from the fact that the dual gravities contain AdS 2 and AdS 3 factor, respectively. We also explore how the AdS/CFT correspondence works...

    One-loop perturbative corrections to non(anti)commutativity parameter of N = 1/2 supersymmetric U(N) gauge theory

    Abstract
Perturbative corrections to N = 1/2 supersymmetric U(N) gauge theory at one-loop order are studied. It is shown that whereas the quantum corrections to N = 1 sector of the theory are not affected by the C-deformation, the non(anti)commutativity parameter C receives one-loop perturbative corrections. These perturbative corrections are computed by performing an explicit one-loop calculation of the three and four-point functions of the theory. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

2D gravity on AdS 2 with chern-simons corrections

    Abstract
We study 2D Maxwell-dilaton gravity with higher order corrections given by the Chern-Simons term. The model admits three distinctive AdS 2 vacuum solutions. By making use of the entropy function formalism we find the entropy of the solutions which is corrected due to the presence of the Chern-Simons term. We observe that the form of the correction depends not only on the coefficient of the Chern-Simons term, but also on the sign of the electric charge; pointing toward the chiral nature of the dual CFT. Using the asymptotic symmetry of the theory as well as requiring a consistent picture we can find the central charge and the level of U(1) current. Upon uplifting the solutions to three...

    Abstract
Using extended island formula we compute entanglement entropy of Hawking radiation for black hole solutions of certain gravitational models containing higher derivative terms. To be concrete we consider two different four dimensional models to compute entropy for both asymptotically flat and AdS black holes. One observes that the resultant entropy follows the Page curve, thanks to the contribution of the island, despite the fact that the corresponding gravitational models might be non-unitary. © 2021, The Author(s)

Multi-spin string solutions in AdS black hole and confining backgrounds

    Abstract
We study semi-classical multi-spin strings in the non-supersymmetric backgrounds of AdS black hole and Witten's confining model. We consider constant radius strings with rotations along the isometries of the backgrounds. In the AdS black hole, solutions exist only if there is a non-zero spin in the black hole part. In contrast with the AdS background, we find solutions which although have no rotation in the S5 part, have a regular λ expansion in the expression for large energy. In the near-extremal D3 and D4 backgrounds, we find that strings have to be located on the confining wall. We also discuss the stability of solutions by considering the fluctuation Lagrangians. © 2004 Elsevier B.V....

    Abstract
Using higher order corrections we argue that five dimensional = 2 and = 4 small black holes exhibit supersymmetry enhancement in near horizon geometry leading to eight and sixteen supercharges, respectively. Using this enhancement at supergravity level we can identify the global supergroup of the near horizon geometry. In particular we show how this supergroup distinguishes between small and large black holes in = 2 case

We show that the asymptotic symmetry algebra of geometries with Schrödinger isometry in any dimension is an infinite-dimensional algebra containing one copy of Virasoro algebra. It is compatible with the fact that the corresponding geometries are dual to non-relativistic CFTs whose symmetry algebra is the Schrödinger algebra which admits an extension to an infinite-dimensional symmetry algebra containing a Virasoro subalgebra. © 2009

    Nonrelativistic AdS/CFT

    Abstract
We extend the non-relativistic AdS/CFT correspondence to the fermionic fields. In particular we study the two point function of a fermionic perator in non-relativistic CFTs by making use of a massive fermion propagating in geometries with Schrodinger group isometry. Although the boundary of the geometries with Schrodinger group isometry differ from that in AdS geometries where the dictionary of AdS/CFT is established، using the general procedure of AdS/CFT correspondence، we see that the resultant two point function has the expected form for fermionic operators in non-relativistic CFTs، though a non-trivial regularization may be needed. Also we study Weyl symmetry for non-relativistic...

    Abstract
We study four dimensional N = 2 G2 supersymmetric gauge theory on R3 × S1 deformed by a tree level superpotential. We will show that the exact superpotential can be obtained by making use of the Lax matrix of the corresponding integrable model which is the periodic Toda lattice based on the dual of the affine G2 Lie algebra. At extrema of the superpotential the Seiberg-Witten curve typically factorizes, and we study the algebraic equations underlying this factorization. For U (N) theories the factorization was closely related to the geometrical engineering of such gauge theories and to matrix model descriptions, but here we will find that the geometrical interpretation is more mysterious....
